I went camping the last week of August before the kids started school and was looking for a campground near Wisconsin Dells but not too close. I found one west of Reedsburg near Wonewoc Wisconsin. The campground is Chapparal Campground and it is somewhat new. The bathrooms were clean, the pool is heated but at the time we went we had a lot of rain so the water was cool. It really felt good as it was hot and humid with all the rain we received. We were about 25 miles from the Dells so we planned our trek over there with the gas prices the way they are. We were there during the week and the Restaurant was closed. I only had one complaint with the office in that they should have someone there so it would be open. Most of the time we were there it was closed so any items I needed I had to go to Wonewoc to get something, about 3 miles. That seemed to be the only inconvenience we had. We enjoyed the Reedsburg area as we haven't been there for about 15 or 20 years. Anyone traveling from out of State would find this campground to be a great base to explore the area. It is close to many cities of interest. Baraboo is close by, of course the Dells area, and to the north a bit is Warrens,(cranberry capital) and a day trip to La Crosse would not be out of the question. Don't forget the bikes as you are right next to the"400" bike trail. There are a couple of State Parks nearby as you have Devil's Lake and Wildcat Mountain not too far away. So I would say for a nice quiet campground on a scale of 1 to 10 with 5 being average I would give it a 6(the office/store hours were bad)
