Anyone have any reviews of Green Lakes State Park in Syracuse? Best sites, etc.

Yep! I have been there curryp,

It has been awhile, about four years ago, the camp sites are grass with water every two or three sites a part. I did not see any that were the best sites unless you don't like some hills. Most of the people there were natives of the local area and they seemed to alway be eating. Good Food..The lake is not far from the camp sites but if you have kids just make sure the life gaurd is on duty. The bath houses were old and well used, not just from the campers but other people in the area wanting to swim. Lake is closed now. If the park is open now I don't beleive you will find maney people there. When do you plan on going?

We are going this weekend, so I know the beach area will be closed. I was going to check their website to see if it would be worth bringing the kayaks. We are going to watch the WVU (my alma mater) play SU (my husband's favorite college team) play football. The weather is supposed to be great with potential for record breaking temperatures. I am anticipating a great weekend.

I would highly recommend Green Lakes State Park. After spending two nights there I was really impressed with the park. The DH and myself had a site w/o electric (limited sites and fairly close to one another) but did dry camp at a site near bathroom.

The park is quite expansive with two camping areas with a total of 137 sites. We stayed in the Pinewood section at site 27. The park has two lakes that are beautiful due to the color of the lakes and surrounding scenery. One of the lakes has a beautiful swim area. There is a hiking trail around the lake with signs telling about the color of the lake and other interesting facts. There is also an 18 golf course at the park as well as a frisbee golf course. A nice playground and a sand volleyball court are also provided in each  camping area. Another plus is that this campsite is only about 15 minutes from Syracuse where there are many options for rainy days.

To summarize - If you are looking for a campground with a lot to do right at the park this is the place!
