We are going to Rileys Farms on Saturday and they seem to have alot to offer this time of year. www.rileysfarm.com. There is apple picking, pumpkin picking and more.

I found that Yucaipa Regional Park has 26 full hook up sites and is only 8 miles from the farm. (I'm not sure if this is the same place we stayed a few years back).

What do you think?

I think that we should wait to see how many people survive the 2007 rally before talking 2008 :sombraro: .

I adore that area!  It would be worth it IF we could get all 26 sites reserved in advance.  Temecula was 30 sites for me when I wagonmastered, so I'd imagine that we'd need the whole place!  :-)

It looks like a cool place..I love livng history stuff..How is the KOA there and is it close to Banning? Where is  the farm and KOA located?   But I liked the calico idea also..So many great ideas.  You have to start early with our group is getting so large.  And new places are alway fun to explore.  I 'm game for anything.

This may sound stupid, but here it goes.......What if, just by chance, we like Santa Paula? And we want to go back there.   I know, it sounds crazy, but it could happen.

That's fine.  I'm just throwing out ideas.  I like Far West Resorts and the kids love the petting zoo but if we aren't able to get the sites we need we'll at least have other options to explore.   If nothing else, we can make a rally some other time and enjoy Riley's Farms.

You know us, we'll go where the party is.  I would have went back to Vail Lake this year if that's where we had the Rally.

Kim I happened to come across this as I was looking for info for William Heise, and found last years discussion on Halloween plans...  SOunds like you don't like the CG???

"I believe we've already tried Yucaipa Regional Park. I personally didn't care for the campground. The spaces are spacious but they are spread out and then
again, they have sites where 2 or 3 trailers can share. They have hook-ups but their bathrooms are funky. They they are like toilet stalls hooked together with a roof above. They are open/airy because they are outside. We also had complaints from other guests that the groups' kids were unruly.

Just my 2 cents."  -KIM

yucaipa is a nice place and the apple stuff is fun, I like the campground a lot. but the spaces are TOO far apart for a rally. We had a rally there way back and it was to far for the adults to enjoy the campfire while the kids were happily asleep. I want to say we were there end of 2002, it may have been 2003

I still want to see what Santa Paula is like . I like the campground, I have been there before. I think the big issue about it this time is we couldn't all get in one loop. Maybe if we book it more in advance we could..

I want to get thru THIS one first... :eyecrazy:

I know what I said about the campground but now I don't have to use the funky "air conditioned" bathrooms.  Yes, the sites are large and spread out and I think more than one vehicle can fit on a single site.  This campground  is the only campground close to Reily's Farm.

Maybe next September or so I can arrange a Rally there and we pick apples and pumpkins and enjoy the beginning of Fall.

Well Kim even though I will have to use those funky bathrooms it does sound like a fun camping trip........It would be fun to pick apples,etc........See ya in two weeks.......Luv,Carol

And we need to remember that not all of us have or will upgrade to a full trailer with toilet and shower and will need the funky bathrooms.  I have dealt with funky bathrooms and will in teh future, I suppose, but it's something to keep in mind, especially for those with little kids.

When "funky" was mentioned about the restrooms, it is because the stall doors are located on the outside of the building and are open on the top and bottom like regular stalls.  They were clean to my recollection but not sure about showers.

Clean is a MAJOR factor in bathrooms being funky or not.  Yeah, it's my lot in life to have to deal with campground bathrooms/showers, I guess.  (insert sigh and scowl here)
