Replacing converter and which amp ?

My Centurion 2000 converter fan burned up no big deal, at least I thought, I replaced the fan and all was good until the converter shorted out completely which may have been the reason for the fan burning up to begin with.
Now I'm in a search to replace the converter, my question is should I go back with the 20 amp service or will the 12 amp service work as well.

It depends on how much 110v you use. The other thing to consider is resale value. That might just be the straw that turns off a potential buyer. Personally, I would take the opportunity to upgrade. It would add options and value to your PU.

If $ is the issue, you could use a 10-12g extension cord and a plug strip with a breaker in it, if you don't have a lot of demand for 110v. You could use a battery charger on your battery for your 12v service.

Talk to the folks at http://www.bestconverter.com/ They have a "slide in" replacement for your old converter. These folks do hundreds of them a year and know what's best for your trailer.
FYI: the amp rating on the converter is for the total 12 volt output. 120 volt ratings will be either 15 amp or 30 amp.
Your new converter will also have a decent seperate battery charging section.
