Small (61 site) campground set on Lake Durant just outside of Blue Mountain. We stayed on site #12 which had an ok put in for the kayaks. Sites in general seem large. There are some smaller tent sites.

The staff is great- very friendly. The bathroom buildings had just gotten a new coat of paint. We did not use the shower facilities so I can't comment on those. Water spigots were not threaded- had to use a thief which was not so fun. The campground was very quiet and the fall foliage was spectacular.

We kayaked around Lake Durant and checked out some of the smaller islands. The next day we kayaked up Rock Creek, squeezed under the trail bridge and kayaked around Rock Pond- scenery was, again, breathtaking.

You can hear Route 30 (2 lane road) from the campground, since it's right across the lake, but it didn't bother us at all. If you don't like to hear cars, etc., I don' advise staying at this park.

This was our first stay and we really liked it. We're looking forward to going back again next year and have even talked about making it our Columbus Day Weekend trip for every year.

I am glad to hear you enjoyed a campground in my "backyard." I have been spoiled somewhat enjoying the large wooded sites of Lewey Lake, Indian Lake Islands and Lake Durant on most of my camping trips. I can't venture too far from home during the summer because my husband owns weekly rental cabins and has to be there on turnover day - Saturday. But this fall, I did enjoy going to Verona Beach and Green Lakes campgrounds. I must say the first three campgrounds mentioned above as well as the Adirondack campsite near Plattsburgh that I worked at 20 years ago, offer private wooded sites that I prefer. Although the other two sites mentioned above had nice scenery and were enjoyable, I am glad I was there during the off season. The sites were packed right in and provided no privacy.

I have kayaked where you did during your camping trip, but during the summer. I can imagine how beautiful it was this past weekend with the great fall colors and warm temps. I know exactly the bridge you talk about going under as I have done the same. Hopefully, Lake Durant will become your Columbus Day Weekend destination.
