What would you choose?

About three months ago I almost bought a brand new 06 Fleetwood Sun Valley and backed out at the last minute. I decided I need to sell my house and buy another before I make such a large purchase. What makes it worse is the depressed RE market! So . . . I am in the market for a used one.

For around the same price I can choose between a 2000 Coachman Clipper, 1998 Starcraft 12 ft Venture or a 2003 Viking 10ft Epic.

What would you choose. (We are two tall people with two dogs.)

You will know which one, after you go and check them out. You will either feel good about the floor plan or not. We all have different opinions on floor plans.

The important thing is to check them out carefully for water intrusion, staining in the ceiling and wood rot. Check out the ceiling carefully and check-out the floors. Look at the floors from the bottom side.

One thing to keep in mind is you never hear people saying, "We just have too much storage space in that trailer!"  Or, "It's just got too many amenities!"  So go for the one that suits you best, but remember that though you think you won't ever need all those cabinets, or you'll never use the running water inside, so the hand pump will be fine, you will want those things once you don't have them.  Go for more rather than less.

I agree with the other posts, we bought our first used 2002 coleman Utah at the beginning of the summer. The Utah was bigger and had more ammentities than what I origionally figured that I would purchase. I loved the floor plan and decided it would be better to grow into some thing than out of it. I have not looked back once in regret. We use the entire camper and some.

We have a 2003 Clipper and are very happy with it.  I 100% agree with the above posts - get the most you can in the best condition.  The only way to tell is to look at them.

Our Clipper was traded in for a hardside trailer after what appears to be about 1 night of use.  As you are looking for used PUs, don't overlook dealers that normally don't stock PUs.  They often get them in on trades and don't want to keep them around too long (translated - there are some really good deals out there).

Good luck - you'll know when you've found the right one.

Since you say you are "tall people" I can relate. I am 6'5" tall. One thing that was an absolute must when I was looking for a PUP was a king or queen bed. So a big bed was something I was not willing to do without. Unless you like to sleep curled up or pressed into the canvas I would make this a must on what ever model you get.
