Places to stay near Disneyland (California)

Hello All,

We are planning a trip to Disneyland in California this spring and need your help.  Have any of you stayed in the R.V. parks near Anaheim?

Do you know of any other parks or camping areas near by (30 +/- miles) from Disneyland that we should be looking at?

We want to surprise our children with this trip and would love to have it all come together.

Newport Dunes is the best place to stay. I stayed there a couple of years ago, it was great. Newport Dunes is usually rated in the top 10 of RV parks. It accomodates every one from tenters to RVers.

I would not recomment any of the RV parks close to Dismeyland. They are all asphalt parking lots, and you get squeezed in so tight, ther is not enough room for your awning.
We have stayed ar Canyon RV park, about a 15 minute drive from the park. The sites were big and open, with plenty of grass.
newport Dunes is also very nice, a bit more expensive, but worth it.

Both Newport Dunes & Canyon RV park sit right next to LARGE roads & can be quite noisy, especially in a PUP.  There's a place called East Shore RV Park, which is part of a large park called Bonelli, that's set away from the freeway & is probably 25 miles straight up the freeway from the park.  If you've got a hard-sided trailer & noise isn't a factor, then Newport Dunes would be okay.

Canyon RV is your best bet IMHO. its about 5 miles from my house. I can tell you which sites to request.

It takes about 15-20 min. depending on traffic. contact me & I can answer all the questions you have.

just an FYI if you are coming down easter break you should start thinking about making reservations soon.

Try Dockweiler Beach RV park. The park itself is nothing to brag about - really just a big parking lot with full hookups, but it's right there on the beach, about 45 minutes from Dizzyland if you leave at the right time, and a short bike ride away from all the LA beach cities - Venice, Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo, Marina Del Rey. Beautiful beach sunsets, and the beach has fire pits.

We stayed a Dockweiler one time........never again. Not only do you have the horrendous noise but you are right across the street from a sewage treatment plant and the smell is as bad (if not worse) as the noise.

There are several CG in Orange county that would be FAR superior and just as close as Dockweiler.

It's RIGHT on the beach.  So if folks want that walk-out-of-your-door experience, they've got it.  I stayed there once & watched a jet blow an engine on take-off & have to circle several times, dumping fuel over the water so it could come back & land.  Needless to say, everyone who was camping there was less than excited about the whole thing on several levels.  

(The jet made it back to LAX safely.)

sorry..you're on your own on that one...but give you some freeways and times to avoid...ok let's be real, the best time is 10 pm to 4 am :p
