This is a good way to remind Camper Friendly Businesses that a camper spent their hard earned $$.$$ with them.
 
When traveling I stock up on $2 BILLS and use them at CAMPER FRIENDLY businesses. After making my purchases with credit card or cash, I just make another purchase, like a coke or small pack of crackers and pay for it with the $2 bill.
 
Sometimes I have to explain to someone that they are legal tender and that this is a way to remember that a CAMPER spent time and $$.$$ at their store.

Most $2 bills disappear out of circulation within 3 transactions.

Back when I was whitewater canoeing, we'd purchase everything with wet money. After 20 boaters spent a weekend in a small West Virginia town, the "town fathers" realized how much of a finanacial boon we were and became more boater friendly.

I worked in banks for many years - and would often bring my son foreign coins and unusual bills for his collection.  Because $2 bills were not commonly seen, I would always give Jon a $2 bill from the 'tooth fairy' whenever he lost a tooth. (he still has some of them, too!)

One year, we were on a family reunion weekend at a Holiday Inn in South Bend, In.  Late on Sat night, my then 6 yr old son  knocked out a baby tooth unexpectedly while running around the video arcade and pool area with his cousins.  I tried hard to find a $2 bill for him - at the front desk, the bar & restaurant - even going to a couple of nearby drugstores - no luck finding one.  So after he went to sleep, I tucked 8 quarters into his pillowcase, instead - figuring he would be dissapointed the next morning and that this would be the end of his believing in the 'Tooth Fairy'

The next morning, Jon woke me up - very excited " Mom! MOM!  Guess what?  the Tooth fairy found us in the HOTEL! and know what? she left me Quarters this time! she must've known I needed more quarters for the video games instead of paper money!!!

I learned to never underestimate a child's belief in magic!  

After that, the 'Tooth Fairy" went back to giving $2 bills.  But I always had two or three $2 bills tucked away in the back of my wallet, just in case! It's amazing how keeping just $4 - $6 tucked away in a side pocket of my wallet saved me many times!
