We have reservations for Pt Mugu (Thornehill Broome) on the 4th of July :U  (July 3-6). It would be nice if someone else would join us. :sombraro:

can't we have a standing 4th of July date we have been keeping for the last 13 years.

I'm currently in the works of planning a 2-3 week trip starting in mid July thru the first week of Aug.

Can you see fireworks from the campground?

Fireworks are "illegal" in Ventura County. There won't be any "Official" fireworks but you know how some campers are..... :sombraro:

Yeah, but are there legal fireworks somewhere up or down the beach that you'd be able to see?  I don't like backyard fireworks -- too dangerous (okay Vikinig, call me a whuss ...), but I LOVE watching the big, beautiful ones that are professionally done.

yes I would as a mater of fact. according to the counseling dept at his school we need to start visiting colleges :eyecrazy:  so we are planning on checking out Stanford and maybe Davis.
the only thing for sure is Kevin is going into some biology field
he's considering neurologist, veterinarian, bacteriologist, biochemist, and forensic science.

I'm looking at staying within an 1hr-1 1/2 hr from Stanford and spending about a week seeing the sites since we're there, then hit the Lopez rally on the way back. so any feedback would be great.

That's why I started the Leo Carrillo thread a month early. Anyone that may be interested in the Leo Carrillo trip will have to get on-line at 7:50AM on Feb 1. You can only make 2 reservations per person. It would be good if everyone that can, would make 2 reservations.

Good luck with that.
I just spent yesterday morning trying to get spots for my sons cub scout pack for Doheny in July. I some how managed to get two spots, but two other people trying got nothing.  Half full within 20 min and full for the weekend in an hour.

I got lucky and got the two spots, but when I tried to get back to check other thing reserveamerica wouldn't load because it was so busy.

You are on your own with this one.  I called, and after the laughter stopped, the guy told me that I needed to make my reservation shortly after birth to get those dates.  And, to get two sites even in the same zip code I would stand a better chance of winning the Ca state lotto.

that pretty much sums it up...I gave up on Doheny in aug years ago. My friend and I both tried with 2 phones each and the internet and by the time we got thru it was full
