OEM Parts for Starcraft online?

Hi - I have a 1999 Starcraft Spacemaster, and it has some things that need repaired / replaced.  I have been unable to find the parts online, though, and was wondering if there is a place to do that, and if not, do you just go order them from a dealer?

I need:

1.  Decal set for pop-out dinette area
2.  Some clips that screw into the rail that holds the canvas to the roof.  Essentially, there is a track there, and a clip sewn into the canvas.  The clips I need are a small piece of sheet metal with one end bent at a 90 degree angle, and a hole in it.  A screw goes through that, and the bent angle keeps the canvas clip from coming back out of the rail.

Any help / advice out there?

Thanks!

Randy,

Welcome to PUT!

I recently restored an old Starcraft. A dealer in Knoxville, Cathey's RV helped me by ordering the parts from Starcraft and had them drop-shipped to me. They were very helpful, and we have known them for several years. We then bought a new hybrid and have been happy.

Give them a call, or, if you live in that area by chance, stop in and see Miss Kim in the parts department or Rick in the Sales department!

Starcraft has a policy that if you live 50 miles or further from a dealer you can order parts directly from Starcraft. Fortunately I do, as there are good dealers and then there are the so-so dealers who even looking up an old part number is a chore ... "would'nt you rather have a new one?".

Now if you do order a part from Starcraft it will be retail priced, supposedly what the dealer would charge. In any event, you certainly can call Starcraft's parts department and see if they have such a part available regardless of where you live.

The folks at Starcraft are great people to do business with.

OK - thanks - I am in Mesa, AZ, and there seems to be a dealer in Phoenix, though that is still an hour's drive from here with traffic.  I sent a parts request to the TN dealer, and will see what I get back from that - I was really hoping that I could find an online store, like you can do for auto parts, where the dealer will give you a discount on the parts - am I just dreaming?  :)

Dream on ...

But you do qualify to order direct from Starcraft. Give them a call and see if what you want is still available and for how much. There are some salvage RV places about but then you'd be talking used parts. Some items, of course, are generic, used by several manufacturers. Like for exmple, the roof vent, you might very well be able to find those kinds of parts on line or someplace else and they could very well be on sale.

As previously mentioned, Starcraft's parts department is fantastic.  Just give 'em a call, and get what you need in 3 days via UPS.  It doesn't get any faster, easier or more efficient.

i always call starcraft first and get part #s..if there is a dealership within 6o miles of you they will only give you part #s

locally i deal with bates rv in dover ,fl

With the Starcraft dealer that I previously referenced, I had to provide the VIN#, which assured them I was giving them the right model for the right parts. Just have that handy.

Ok - one more Q - I just noticed that a couple of the latches are broken on the pup that hold the cabinet doors closed.  Is that Starcraft-specific, or is there a place I can get aftermarket ones?

For a description, they are gold with a brown center piece that pushes down.  There is a receiving end that mounts on the outside of the cabinet that the latch fits into.

Thanks!

I've had a couple of latches go bad on my Starcraft, too. But, again, Starcraft parts has the replacements. Where mine went bad is the brown plastic plunger you push in with the thunb, the spring under becomes disengaged. The fella in Starcraft's parts department told me the main cause of this happening is by slamming the compartment door closed. he says to push the door closed. Anyway, understand Starcraft has long went to a different latch. In any event, you can either order out some replacements or go on down to Lowe's Bldg Supply and they have a display of latches that I'm sure something would fit.
