Dw and I left on Sunday and arrived on Tuesday afternoon.  Total trip was  1429 miles.  Gasoline ran from a low of $2.89 a gallon to a high of $3.22 a gallon.  Haven't totalled up the total cost yet.

After driving 439 miles on the last day we arrived at the cg , tired but excited at reaching our destination.

After registering, we went to our site.  DW says here it is.  I mention that it looked smaller than I remembered.   Nope, this is the one.

Now with the truck and tt, we are about 50 ft long.  There just happens to be this tall tree right were I would like to make my turn.  I give it a try, and almost make it.  Only the front three feet of the truck will scrape the tree.

So it is time to pull out and circle the road and try another angle.  Well that didn't work either.  Same tree, same problem.

Well, another camper comes along and offers to help.  We decide another trip to circle the road is in order.  I do this and another attempt
is tried but to no avail.  Then we made one more try.  Truck will just not make it.

So I tell dw to call the office and see if they can put us on with their tractor.  (Sound familar Tracy? :)  )

So while we are waiting for help to arrive, I  get out of the truck for the first time.

I look at the site and ask dw what our site number is?  She said "Site 59."   I said, "Then why are you trying to put us on Site 60?"  Somehow, I managed to keep my cool and realigned the truck and trailer and very simply backed onto site 59.

Moral, always have two people check the site  number and popups are easier to get into small sites.   In DW's defense, both site numbers were on the same pole.

So we are settled in for the next three months, have established contact with people we met here last year and are looking forward to doing some surf casting.

And I don't miss the 2 feet of snow that was in my front yard back home.

Glad you made it there safely, Gene.  I can't imagine you ever losing your cool!!  ... and so happy you didn't this time either.   Enjoy your stay in a warmer climate.  We had temperatures high enough to melt our snow last week ~ we're down to next-to-nothing .... course it's only January.

Happy Camping and say hi to Terry for me.

Do NOT ever let that slide ...

Two years from now when DW begins to get onto you for something, just remind her of how she was trying to get you to back into the wrong site! :)

(p.s. Does DW ever ever visit this board? ... maybe I spoke too soon!)

LOL Gene you need to learn how to back that rig into tight spots.  I think Terry was just trying to give you a chance to learn.:D  I am glad you made it there safe and sound.  How is your back doing after the trip?  Enjoy the weather and keep us updated on what is going on.  Are you going to get to camp with Brenda this year?:)

Already emailed Brenda and we will be getting together.  Not necessarily to camp together but to get together for some good gabbing and dinner.  They are less than an hour from us.

Back is doing very good.  Some improvement and hopefully more will follow in the next few weeks.  Thanks for asking.

I think Tracy is right , Terry was just trying to help you get more experience with the long long trailer.

Enjoy your time in the warmth and give Brenda and Ray a hug for me.

Sherrie and I both enjoy hearing from you and reading your posts.  Looking forward to the time we can be with both of you again.  Enjoy your time down south.

Glad to hear you are safely there!  Enjoy the relief from the snow/cold.

Snow??? It was almost 70 here in eastern WV Tuesday.

Gene,
Hope all is well. If the site was in the the back of the campground you could have been back in New Jersey. I still think you may have had more space on the wrong site in Fl than in NJ.
I'm here in Mass I can send you some snow if needed.
Please keep the Rally in mind in July. Hope to see you. Give Terry our best.

Bet that low price was in South Carolina?

You may be right, I know it was a southern state.

Almost felt like we were at a major sale at that price.

Gas was a big cost on this trip, approximately $500.  Although DW and I really like the truck, 8.6 mpg while towing ain't that great, but then, we are only spending our kids' inheritances. :)

We have kiddingly told them that.  Their attitude is go ahead.  You earned it but REMEMBER, we get to pick out your retirement home.
