Am considering buying a leftover new 2007 model Starcraft 10 RT. This would be my first pup. (Is $8,400 a good price? Includes tow vehicle wiring, brake contoller, outside shower tent, portable chem toilet, radio, bunk fans/lights,battery,2 LP tanks, battery)

I'm thinking the shorter oal (vis a via the 11RT) will be benefical in negotiating National Forest fire roads here in north central AZ to find remote camping in the forests. Do you with experience agree?

Is giving up an inside shower/cassette toilet a good trade off for increased back road travel maneuverability. Just the wife and I. Planning to use for shorter camping stays of 3-5 days typ.

Any and all thoughts/comments are greatly appreciated.

I think it is a pretty good price.  A quick Google search revealed a new 2007 10RT price of $12,000 + at one dealer and a used 2004 10RT for $9500.  I paid around $14,000 for my 2007 11RT.

I have towed mine on single track roads (20 miles one way) with no problem.  Just have to pull of into the forest if someone is comming the other way.  I do not think the increased length of the 11RT is much of a problem on fire roads.

I considered the 10RT but decided I wanted the extra cargo space and the inside shower and toilet.  Having a young son kind of mandated that.  If it is just the two of you, I think you will be very happy with the 10RT, besides the good price.

Have fun!

I paid 10K out the door for my '95 after the '96's had come out.  It seems like you are getting a good price.

I love my RT.  I can get it any place I would feel safe driving my Dakota.  We like the slide-out, and didn't care about built in potty or shower.  But I guess that combination makes us weird since they discontinued the 12RT soon after.

Good luck with the PUP.
