Mystic CT suggestions?

We are looking for suggestions for camping near the Mystic Seaport area in CT.  We are a family of 4.  Teenaged kids are 17 & 14 - and YES - they still like camping with their folks!

We prefer more rustic campgrounds like state run parks rather than resort-type facilities.  We enjoy our space and having family time at night by a roaring fire.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.   Happy trails!

Many, many years ago, we stayed at Seaport Campground. It served well as a base camp, I remember that there wasn't much in the way of privacy between sites. I wish I could give you more info, but I don't want to give inacurate info due to a bad memory, but I remember it was pretty good as a base for touring.
