Would anyone be interested in camping bordering the anza borego desert..there is this campground called the butterfield resort campground.  It has full hookups and 3 pools. It is only $25.00 a night.  google butterfield resort and campground and you will see pics of it.  I will call group camping a get all information if anyone would be interested.  It would be nice to go out either late April or May.  The desert flowers would be blooming then.

Here is a link to the resort
 it looks great.
Sue how far is it from temecula ?
mapping it out, shows it only 4 hours from Ventura, about the same as going to campland on the bay.
I vote for Cinco De Mayo weekend

It is out the S-2 highway after you get to the highway its another 1 to 1 /1/2 hours.  The direction are on the web site...mapquest is wrong. there are no hookups sections also..that are cheaper..

Sue,   We are interested, but we're camping in Joshua Tree 4-11 - 13th.  Depending on the date you pick we'll see.  Keep us posted.

Desert=Dirt.  However, full-hookups make it easier to clean off the dirt.  We would be interested, depending on the weekend....

As I remember it is mostly grass and not too many big trees.  I was thinking about  May 3, 4  5  (need to take vacation time) for a Cinco De Mayo weekend.  as suggested by Brad  or over Memorial day weekend. 5/24-26?  Let me know what weekend and how many and I'll call about getting group reservations.

I have to ask Bran and double check when the state testing window is...but, we'd be more apt to go at the beginning of the month...we wouldn't go over Memorial Weekend.  BUT, do whatever the majority wants to do...as I am not even sure we can go!!  It looks pretty!

I think the first weekend of May would be good for us......Have to check with Jim to make sure and wait for you to confirm the dates......carol

I'm interested, but need to do more research: the words Mobile home park means long termers which isn't always bad, but I've been to a lot of places that it does mean "icky"...I also couldn't find a review on rvparkreviews.com

but I do want to camp Memorial weekend but not too far as Dan would have to leave sunday nite for his annual 5K race

but the 1st weekend in May is also perfect. Kevin gets out at noon on Thurs and has Friday off

We drove out the campground to check it out..It has a new manager and that is a good thing..they are trying to rebuild the park up...They are open right now for memorial Day camping and it would be $20.00 a night if we get 8 spaces..that is with full hookups...there is three pools, only one is heated right now.  they do not have a resturant..but a chuck wagon comes out for breakfast, lunch and dinner...on SAt.  Sunday just breakfast and lunch...there are fire pits or you can bring your own..there is a small play area for the kids and basketball courts and volleyball.  It is all on grass. It is about 22 miles to Ocatilla Wells, where you can off road.  This is in the Anza Borrego desert.  only street legal vehicles can use the dirt areas.  It is off the 79 and on the S2 hwy.  It took us 30 min after we turned on S2 to campground.  We used to go there all the time when my kids were little and they loved this place.  Glad to see someone is taking care of it now.  There is also tenting areas, but they are close to road.  Not much traffic though.   Is any one interested?

We may be in.  Is this campground close to Julian?
