I've surfed the forum and i'm quite confused about the question I'm about to ask...
 I have a Coleman 2001 PUT with a roof a/c . Not sure of the BTU's... also the trailer uses a 30 amp hook-up.
I would like to buy a generator to use while camping. I want it to use to basically run the A/C. I plan to go to Tenn in June so I will need the A/C.
I want something lite and quiet but don't want to break the bank. Any info?
Thanks

Yes, in June, you will need AC.

There are 2 (or 3) possibilities here.

1) Buy a 2000 watt generator (such as the Honda 2000i). It may or may not run your AC. Some people have been able to; others not. They are a little pricey, but they run exceptionally quiet. I've (almost not) heard them. You can get them for 8 or 900 bucks at mayberrys.com.

2) Buy a 2000 watt generator and if that doesn't power it, buy another 2000 watt generator, and "twinning" them, or making them parallel in a power kit: http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm/Outdoor-and-RV-Accessories/Parallel-Power-Kit-with-Generator-Adapter--2000W/skunum=35426 These power kits can also be homemade. I had a link to one, but it is now expired. With 3500 watts (maybe a little more), you could power your AC and lots of other things (By the way, with a 2000 watt gen, you are virtually limited to running just your AC. Your mileage may vary.)

3) Buy a cheap Champion generator (3000 watt) or something like that. Your neighbors will hate you, and since I live in Tennessee, there is a good chance I'll hear it running, too.

4) Don't dry camp. There are lots of nice parks in Tennessee with hookups.

Hope this helps.

There is another possibility...buy a Yamaha EF2400iS. It is only about $200 more than the Honda 2000, and it will for sure power your A/C. It is just as quiet as the Honda, and it is a WHOLE lot less expensive than buying 2 of the Hondas. Plus there's still only the maintenance of one, rather than two!

I just received my Yamaha EF2400is. Haven't even fired it up yet. I went with the larger unit (versus the Honda 2000) so I had the extra watts to get over the hump. I ordered it from Cabella's web site. It was $100 off. Total was $1099 plus $24 shipping.

I'm a happy camper.  :-()
