I do know that there are no shower facilities at Elkmont, in TN. Are there shower facilities in Gatlinburg that aloow visitors for a fee. I know that camping at Cades Cove, there is a private campground at the base that allows visitors to shower for a fee?  Any suggestions?  Thank you

We purchased a shower/pottie shelter for $35 at Academy Sports and a portable shower that we use when there's no showers in a campground. You would be surprised at how refreshed you feel after using the portable shower.

As far as campgrounds in Townsend that sell showers, it use to be that most of them would sell a shower but I think it's down to one now.  I know that Little River use to but doesn't now.  I think Lazy Daze was the one that would on our last trip up there.  A couple of our friends went in to Townsend for the showers.  We had the shower in our popup and now in our camper.  It's amazing what a 2.5 gallon shower can do to refresh you (plus make your hair not stand on end   :)  )

I would much rather make the drive to Townsend from Elkmont and not have to deal with the traffic going through Gatlinburg.

We are going to try and get back to Elkmont one of these days - I'd like to walk back into the woods and see the old houses.  We have always gone for the Fire Flies in June and would always forget about walking back there before it got dark.
