Hi everybody--been watching for a while and have come up with a question that I would like to ask for some input on, if anybody has any.

Looking to upgrade our current PU to something with a toilet/shower.  Would also like a slide and a front trunk.  Not a Coleman, or anything else that has an ABS roof.  By the way, if you want a Coleman with a bit of sag, I have one for sale.

Anywho, going to the local Palomino dealer tomorrow to look at some left over 2007s.  This will be my 3rd PU, but the first that has cost "real money."  I'm also not sure about depreciation..you know, the standard stuff that goes through anyone's head when looking at new vs. used.

So, I found an ad from a private seller for a 2003 Aerolite Voyager, built by, I believe, Aero Coach which is/was a division of Dutchman.  I understand these aren't made anymore.  It has the bathroom, slide, furnace--all the options we're looking for.  And the price, after a little negotiation, will be in line with NADA.

Anybody have any thoughts on these trailers?  I did a search on the forum, but didn't come up with much.  A few posts seemed to say people had heard of quality issues, I can only find one member who owned one and their posts seemed to indicate they liked it.

I bought my Coleman before I learned about roof sag, and I got an education.  Not sure I'm interested in buying another problem, and the fact they are not made anymore may be all the indication I need.

Any input is appreciated.  Thanks again, hoping I'm not asking too much for my first post.

Thanks,
Duckv

Used 2B PopUPTimes

The Aerolite was a name change for the problem prone Dutchmen /Skamper lines. RV giant, Thor, didn't want to invest any more money in pop up campers and they killed the product after a year or 2. They use that factory for hyrids & lite weights now.

Palomino has been around for 40 years and is still making campers. BTW - they're owned by Berkshire Hathaway - a Warren Buffet company.

OC Campers

Now, I may be wrong (I often am:) ) but Coleman/Fleetwood do not use ABS anymore.   I believe their popups are made with an Alumatite roof now.  Basically this means no more sag.  I think I also read somewhere that they started using the new roof with the 2003.5 model year till present.

I have an 88 Coleman and my roof doesn't have any sagging.

Hey everybody--thanks very much for the replies.  First post gets  reply from the boss.  I'm honored.

OC--I think you're right--they don't use the same roof construction.  But, I'm acquainted with the fellow that owns the local Coleman (Fleetwood) dealership and he has confirmed for me Fleetwood's attitude towards subsequent owners of the campers with bad roofs--I can pound sand.

It's a $3000 repair for a camper that would then be worth $2500 (and that I'm already $2500 into).  So, Fleetwood won't be seeing my money, ever.  I acknowledge it's my fault for not doing the research, lesson learned.  Somebody who is not my wife will not be bothered by the sag and will get an otherwise nice camper, cheap.  If they take the a/c off, the thing will probably last 20 years. The support bar the dealer added seems to have stopped downward progress, so it may be a solved problem.  I dunno.

AZ--I think the problem roofs began with the 1996 model year or so, hopefully yours will be fine.

Anyway, I'm off to the Palomino dealer.  Will report back.

Thanks,
Duckv

Well, looking at a Palomino Mustang 6149.  Nice trailer.  Price seems right, at least what I'm seeing on the internet.

Any opinions?

Thanks,
