I am looking for a screen room that fits on my Utah awning. Fleetwood sells them but they are quite expensive. There must be an alternative company that sells these screen room for less. Any help would be appreciated. Happy camping

There are screen rooms and then there are add-a-rooms. The add-a-rooms attach to your awning and yes they can be pricey. Many folks that have add-a-rooms don't like them because they can be difficult to set up unless you really have the process down pat. I wrote an earlier post that goes into pretty good detail on how I set my add-a-room up by myself in about 10 minutes versus the 30 to 45 minutes others have talked about. The advantages of the add-a-room outweigh every pre-concieved negative about the add-a-room.

The screen room doesn't attach to the awning, but is less expensive, but in my opinion doesn't give you the advantages of the add-a-room.

I have read post here where folks were willing to sell their add-a-room, yoiu may try to get the word out here that you are in the market for one.

Good Luck

I have a screen room for a Coleman Tacoma with a 12' box. I'm not sure if it will be the same as the Utah.

I'm willing to sell it, as we've never used it.

I read your thread on the add-a-room and you said you removed the section that fits to the pup. How do you keep the 'skeeters out if they can fly under the pup into the add AAR? We camp on the Outer Banks and salt-marsh 'skeeters are a vicious lot, finding every chink in your armor.
I'd get an AAR if someone could convince me I could secure the damn thing to the pup with a bug-proof seal.

The Fleetwood screen rooms I have seen attach to the awning just like the AAR.

I camp at Assateague Island National Seashore every year and I understand about the salt march mosquitoes, they are blood suckers!  I have an AAR and it cuts down the number of mosquitoes that get into the camper greatly.  We do some extra securing for the wind and the mosquitoes.  Only a few get into the AAR.  I use some spring clips to help secure the AAR to the awning and camper.  I stuff rags in any openings that are left.  We don't use the AAR often, but we always use it at Assateague Island.:)

Nope!

If you have an original Fleetwood/Coleman awning, your only option is an original Fleetwood/Coleman screen room or Add a Room.

Besides the small size and design differences, different brands of screen rooms attach differently.  Some use zippers and snaps.  Fleetwood/Coleman uses velcro, the cross brace pole tips, snaps, zippers, tie cords, and bungy cords.

Your best option is Wavery's, then the local classifieds, Ebay, and Craigslist!:D

How does the AAR seal the underside of the pup?

...

It has a skirt that attaches with velcro under the edge of curb side body panels, around the stepper door, and then again with the body panels.  The skirt makes a bug and windproof seal between the ground and the bottom edge of the body panel.

I cut the section that goes under the pup away from the rest of the AAR strickly for ease of folding and storing the AAR. I still velcro that piece under the pup and use clips to attach it to the AAR. I live in South Louisiana where the skeeters are tough down in the swamp and marsh here as well and we really don't have an issue with them while using our AAR. The AAR does a great job of keeping bugs out of the pup.

there have been quite a few people who have modified an old freestanding screen house or screen material into a screen room for their camper - Since you already have an awning that fits (and presumably the poles, etc) you should be able to adapt a screen room easily.

I plan on making a screen room for my campers awning - just as soon as I cut down the awning! For some reason, my 1973, 10' starcraft came with new-looking, original canvas awning that is about 12' long! So I have to remove the zipper that runs all around the edge (for the screens that don't exist) take it in about 18", and attach new screens.  I have some 'free' screens from a screen house that already have the door zippers in them, and an old screen house I could cut apart to make the screen walls. All I would have to do is mount velcro or zippers to attach them to the awning.  I'm thinking velcro, as I wouldn't even have to sew it (though I do sew quite well) I can GLUE the velcro tape to the canvas and screen tops.  I can make a 'skirt' for the camper side out of rip-stop tarp, or extra screen, or anything else - velcro'd to the underside of the camper.

I know I had kept a bunch of photos / links of people who made screen rooms - now I can't find them!

here's one -

and another hommade one - much more tailored

Or you might find a freestanding screen room that works with your camper -

Well in my book, if it attaches to the awning and the body of the popup, then it is an add-a-room.

I own a Fleetwood/Coleman and the add-a-room attaches to the awning and the pup body.

Fleetwood/Coleman sell both an add a room and a screen room.  There is a big difference in price between the two.  :)
