Lake Gaston Area

Looking for a good campground recommendation for the Lake Gaston Area.  i would like to take a long weekend camping trip in early may early June time frame and don't want to venture too far from the Tidewater area.  Lake Gaston looks noce but we are looking for some advice an where to go.  We have 2 small children (4 and 2) and want something family friendly.

I hope someone familiar with Gaston replies as I am not. I'm chiming in with a thought. You are close to N.C. and Merchants Millpond SP is a lot closer than Gaston.

Outdoor World has Lake Gaston which is beautiful.  It is a membership park, but you might be able to get in with a phone call.
