Has anybody been camping in Vermont recently? We are taking a family trip (me, wife Alice, daughter Pam and son-in-law Steve) at the end of July beginning of August this summer. Pam and Steve want to go to Vermont, Green Mountain region.  I've gotten the assignment to check out campgrounds. I looked at the Vermont state parks and noticed that none of them have hook up. Alice will NOT go if we can't have at least electric with water available. Also, nice showers/bathrooms. So, I started checking out private campgrounds and came across Green Mountain Family Campground. Does anyone know anything about this one? Or, does anyone have information about any other private campgrounds in the Green Mountain region? A note on what we like to do: hiking, bike riding, canoing, some fishing. Thanks!!!! Pop Rick

We've stayed at Little River CG, http://www.vtstateparks.com/htm/littleriver.cfm, twice. This past summer and about 3 years ago.  Your right about the lack of hookups, but we never use them anyway. The bathrooms are usually clean (they clean them twice a day) and the showers too. When we were there in August they were getting rid of the last of the coin machines for the showers, making them all free. The campground is on a resivior and some of the sites have great views of the water. They do Naturalist guided hikes for kids (and parents) which my kids enjoyed, including one after dark to look for ghosts, or owls, in a nearby old cemetary. The kids liked that one too.
Nearby is Smugglers Knotch, which runs an 'Alpine Slide'  in the summer.  There are other resorts too, plus antique shops, glass blowing, Cabot Cheese, some great paved long bike/jog/roller blade trails and best of all Ben & Gerrys Ice cream Factory  :-() !
  We would stay there again.
