We just purchased a 1996 viking 1706st. The friends we got it from cannot find the keys. Can I go to a viking dealer (are all the keys the same) or would it be easier to change the locks. Does any one have any suggestions?

I that most of the keys are the same.  I don't think you need one.  Everyone in the campground most likely has the same key.  We leave all valubles loked in our truck.

Look at the locks on your PUP to see if there is a number on the face, usually 3 or 4 digits. This is the code # and any locksmith can "code cut" you a new key.
If not these are usually simple "pin" locks that a locksmith can pick and replace.
     Good luck!    Mick

We do the same; however, we lock our camper to keep the idle, curiosity driven kid (or adult) from wandering in. Obviously it won't deter a determined thief, but it will slow up a casual opportunity-driven miscreant.

I'd say go to dealer with ser # and make and model and they should be able to get you a key. Or ask your friends you go camping with and see if thier key fits. There are not very many different keys out there. DW fraked when we picked up our camper last spring and keys were the same as old camper. "well that means any one can get in". Think about it anybody can get in, seperate canvas/velcro along door. Hello

viking camper

I understand what you are saying with anyone getting in but DW wants keys and locks and if shes not happy...............
