I recently had to replace 2 floor tracks in my '98 Eagle 12.  The pulleys were tearing off the track because of accidently leaving an outside latch in place while raising the roof.

Got everything back in place - floor tracks, cables, springs, etc.
Started to test it, and 2 eye-bolts broke.  - the bolts that connect the 4 cables to the metal place attached to the main cable.
I think I know what happened.  The plate was not straight.  Meaning that it was at an angle - 2 bolt holes were closer to the winch.
So, I assume the uneven pressure broke the bolts.

So, I have to get 2 new eye-bolts and attach them to the cable.
My question is will I need to actually buy new cables?  Or could I cut the current cables, and crimp on the bolts?  Will cutting the cables shorten them too much?

Thanks for any insight.

Hello, I have the Jayco 1406 and it is a very large tandem axle pup. As long as the cable has not been repaired before holding it together with the clamps will work. I would suggest replacing all the cable. I have found all 4 for $40.00 on the internet. I just cant remember the site. I would replace the plastic wheels the cables go throughj with metal ones too. I am having that done on mine right now. I would also check into getting a grade 5 or heavier eye bolt too. The ones I had were the originals and well bent. I hope this helps.
