What ever happened to those old school lawn Darts?  Does anyone know if they still make them or where you can get them?  I loved those things.  They work well as a game and even better as weapons.  What other sort of easy to carry games does everyone play while camping?

My grandkids have board games for nighttime/quiet time, as well as their video games.  As for outside stuff, other than the bicycles, they might bring a basket ball.  One time, we had sidewalk chalk and bean bags, and did a toss game, but getting the kids to dump lightly sudsy water on the asphalt and use the broom to clean the chalk off was a 'bummer', so that game never returned.  Generally, the kids find plenty to see/do when camping, and of course there are their chores (setting table, after meal clean up, taking trash to dumpster).  And, my kids/grandkids always met other kids at the campgrounds, so they'd swim together, ride bikes or wander the campground with a given time to return to site.  The less we take, the less we have to pack up to bring home and that suits me and the kids (they don't want be responsible for stuff).

I don't know if they still make them because unfortunately people were throwing them without making sure no one was in the way and people were being killed when the dart hit them in the head since the end was quite like a chisel.

lol... those were great for lawn games...  but now they have like a big blunt end on them.   I like the sharp pointy ends.. but they did quit making them cause they were dangerous or something crazy like that...   it's wonder many of us ever survived our childhood what without child safety seats, seatbelts, or bike helmet...

I like the camping game where I lay around in my zero gravity chair doing nothing but laughing and sleeping and my kids go to the beach or park or something... The best...

I was afraid that they quit making the Lawn Darts.  I suppose I could try to E-Bay them.  I feel like all good games should have an element of danger in them.  That's part of the excitement.  I know the bag game cornhole is very popular at the oldster campgrounds we've been to, but that involves hauling around that big board and all that.  I wan't something small easily packable.

Look up ladder golf. It's basically a PVC tubing frame you toss loose bean bags at and can be disassembled and stored in a small space.

Thanks I'll check it out.  I think I've heard of it.  Is that the game that's sometimes played with a tennis ball bolo?

Actually, bean bags are part of a different game. Ladder golf uses a pvc frame as mentioned, but you toss two golf balls tied together with rope at the frame and try to get the golf balls to wrap around one of three crossbars. ;)

We always left the kids video games and other electronic games at home during camping trips and they never missed them or asked for them. They learned how to play different card games, domino's and an old game called racko. They were usually so busy hiking, fishing, canoeing or climbing trees, that the games usually only came out at night before or after dinner. Horse shoes is another old fashion game that our kids learned to enjoy on camping trips.

I love card and dominoes myself, but I was looking for something a little more active.  I really like the lawn darts.  I'll find them somewhere.  I like horse shoes as well.  Most of the campgrounds we go to have them as well.

my oldest two kids love the card games like Dutch Blitz or UNO, Crazy eights

I just like challenging one another when we are camping with family and friends...  like how long can you get the marshmallow to the fire before it catches fire...  or how close to the tent peg can you toss that small rock...  you know just fun and dumb man games/ challenges
