Ok, I have waited long enough. I need to vent! I took my pup into the shop in mid Feb to get the cables replaced due to 2 of them breaking. I took it to Western Campers in Ft Worth which is the local and closest Jayco dealer from me. About 30 miles. When I left the pup there, I was told it would be ready in 2-3 weeks due to a backlog in repairs and new make ready's. I was fine with that. It would be ready b4 my next campout was scheduled.  They finally got it in the shop 4 weeks later to see what they needed to order as for parts go. I am still patient at that time and understanding. I was told that he had to order parts from Jayco, eye bolts a lift spring and 2 cables. Ok fine. At that time he said it would be about a week and a half. I called after that time went by and he said he has all the parts  except one of the cables. It was on backorder. He said to check back the following week. I did and it still was not there. On 4/4 I called that afternoon to see if the part had come in. He said it was shipped and he is waiting on UPS or Fedex to delv the part. My next campout was 4/11 and I asked if the part came in would he have it ready by then. He said he hope so and I was #1 in the list.(I found out what #1 really is)  Well on 4/10 we had some severe weather come through. I called to check on the camper the next day. I found out that the part did come in on 4/8 and they were without power at the moment due to the storms. All they had was the phone #'s transfered to their cell phones. Power was back on that afternoon ad he said he would have the camper ready this week (4/14-4/18) I called yest 4/17 and you guessed it,it was not ready and still has not made it into the shop. I asked what the hold up was and he said that he had make ready's to get done b4 he does anything else. He said sales take priority over repairs. To a point I can understand that. I asked if he could give me an estimated ready day. He said it might be ready next week. I told him that is what I have been told a few times already! He said it was beyond his control. I asked for the manager and he said he was the manager. I asked who manages the facility and he mentioned a ladies name and that she was the owner. He also said it will do no good to talk to her because that will just make it longer on him to get the camper ready. I guess because she would push to get the new campers ready 1st. At that point I asked what really is the holdup on getting it in. He then tols me if could ever get off the phone he could get things done. That was when I asked to talk to her, she was gone. He said I could come and get the camper if I liked. I asked him why would I want to do that. I brought in to get repaired!  This tells you a lot about service after the sale huh? I am frustrated to no end at this time. I have yet to call her. I am open to anyones suggestions at this time. Thnx for letting me vent :compumad:

That is way beyond unreasonable :swear: .

Give us her name & #. Maybe if we all call her, she'll get the point that being rude is not the way to do business.  :sombraro:

Now check this out, I just called to talk to the owner of the Company and was told by a salesman to come get my camper and parts. He would not let me talk to the owner of the company at all. They are not going to be able to work on the camper at all due to the amount of sales work that has to be done. THEN WHY DID THEY TAKE THE CAMPER IN FOR REPAIRS IN THE 1ST PLACE 2 MONTHS AGO?  :swear:

I have reported the company to the Better Business Bureau in Ft Worth

Sounds like a breach of contract to me :( . Might be time to pick up your camper & parts. Then write a (business like)  letter to the owner of the company. Make it clear that their breach of contract has caused you harm. You might want to send a copy to Jayco and the BBB.

If your PU is unusable for your vacation, you might want to consider renting a camper then suing them in small claims court for the cost of the rental and any other damages that you may have suffered.

Check out my last post!. I appreciate your input too!

When you pick up your camper, see if they will sell you the cables and parts that were ordered (at wholesale, of course, as they didn't do anything for you)
But before you do that, check with Jayco so you know what the cost of those items are. (you know these idiots will try to rip you off)

Cables are NOT that hard to get.  I'd bet that they weren't 'backordered', more like someone forgot to order everything they needed at the same time, or mis-ordered the part. I've replaced whole cable systems in two campers myself -my first camper I bought the parts from Starcraft thru a dealer, and this last time I made my own cables (turns out I didn't need any of the specialty pulley wheels,I needed for the other camper -  only cable).  I learned from the friendly and cooperative dealer I dealt with (by phone, I never even went there, they shipped my parts to me in a week) when I got the first set of cables years ago, that part of the reason these camper suppliers can supply parts for20 /30 / 40 yr old campers is because they are all basic hardware parts and something like cables can be made up quickly by the manufacturer - for cables, all they need is the original specs to make the cables the right length for your model and year.

Jayco is usually a pretty good make, and while I have only had Starcrafts, I haven't heard anything bad about Jayco themselves being a problem to deal with.  I would try to contact JAYCO directly, and see if they have any control over their dealers.  I would also ask them to recommend a GOOD dealer for service, if they are not as close as your original dealer, you will still be better off.

Is your camper new enough to still be under warranty? If these are warranty repairs, I can understand why you may want to push for a dealer to to do them.  But if the camper is older ( and I can't find a model year in your post) replacing cables is really not that hard, (esp if you have factory parts pre-measured) I would do it myself and be camping next weekend!

ScouterMom, I have thought about doing them myself BUT there is a lift arm and track and 2 cables left that has to be replaced as well. Lifting that 14 ft roof once was enough for me. When I p/u the camper they did not charge me for any of the labor they has performed on the camper. I was pretty happy about that being that they repaired the rear cables a month ago. They were very apologetic but it still does not ease fact that they are a Jayco dealer and did not complete the repairs. I did buy the rest of the parts through them and they were not at over inflated prices. I will be leaving in about an hour to take it to another dealer to get it repaired.

When one of my cables broke I went to the dealer. They told me it would be a week to ten days to get the parts. I went to Home Depot, spent approx. $12 and did the work myself. It wasn't that hard to do even for me and I'm not the most mechanically inclined person that I know.

In any event, I would let Jayco know what has transpired.

I have found their customer service to be very good and that they are interested in what their dealerships do.

I am on my third Jayco and have contacted them a number of times over the years.  Any problem or question has been dealt with in a fair and professional way.
