Buying a 3 way Fridge, Good, bad?

I'm interested in buying a fridge that will run on Propane as well as electricity. Are there any good or bad brands, brands to stay away from, etc? Where is a good place to buy from? Thanks_Dan

I don't think there are any bad ones on the market, at least I haven't heard of any. More important to me, if I was in your situation, would be who makes one the right size for the space it's going into.

I have not heard of any bad ones.  I would get a large of a unit that will fit in your camper.  We never have enough room in our fridge.

Are you talking about portable?  Or, one to install in your PopUp?

The ONLY three-way portable refrigerators I have seen for sale in the U.S.A. are made by Dometic.  Have you seen others?

We have neighbors that roll a Dometic portable refrigerator to the park for little league.  They have three kids and so they spend most of their Saturdays there.  One disposable 1lb propane bottle lasts about five days.  It seems to perform very well!

I have only seen Dometic and Norcold three-way refrigerators for installation inside of RVs.  Are there others?

Our new trailer came with a Norcold 3-way in 1995.  We are now on our 4th one..and we can't depend on it.  Mostly we use it to store towels.  They've been the biggest disappointment in our PUP, but could sometimes use them when hooked up to electricity in cool weather.  Coleman Extremes keep stuff colder longer.

Dometic and Norcold are the two most popular manufacturers of the absorbtion style refrigerator/freezers,for RV use.

I've got a Dometic ref/freezer in my PUP (06 Fleetwood Niagara) and have been very pleased with it's performance on both propane and electric.
