This was posted on another thread and rather than derail that thread, I thought I would ask this here:

Quote from: rccsGood idea to start by sealing up any opening coming into the camper from the bottom like suggested. Also you could use a product called Fresh Cab  scent pouches. You can check them out at //www.greenfeet.com and search for Fresh Cab scent pouches. I am not sure the dryer sheet thing works or not but I have read replies either way. Some think it works and others have said that they found the mice had made nests out of them over winter.  From the feedback on the Fresh Cab most have said it does work and it is an evergreen scent that makes the camper smell fresh also.

I looked through this site and I really like it.  Anything that can keep poisons away from me and my family is great.  I was wondering if you have tried the portable sandalwood diffuser and if it really works for repelling mosquitos.  I am a mosquito magnet and no matter what I use I always get bit.  DH and I can be sitting right next to each other and I walk away with hundreds of bites and he doesn't have one!

How about eating garlic and eating Vitamin B12?

Quote from: ForestCreatureIf you can get past the aroma,  lemon eucalyptus oil seems to work here

This Lemon EUC works the best of anything I've found.

I used to use this Vietnam era bug juice the Army was handing out, but it made your lips go numb and you kinda talked funny for a couple days after soaking yourself in it.  I have to admit I never had anything crawl or fly near to me when I was wearing it, but I did see gnats, spiders, and small birds die when they got too close to me.

Now that's some good stuff!  Nevermind the grapefruit size tumors. :D

I'm allergic to DEET so my choices are limited.  The best product I've found is called 'Natrapel' and I think the active ingredient is called gerinol.  It smells like root beer (but in a good way)!

Old Starcraft

I have had great success with all natural soaps. I have a co-worker who sells this and other type things. She got me hooked on it after a couple of years ago we camping in N.C.. My wife and son were being eaten alive, while I had none... zero....zip bites on me. We were eating the same things, so all I can figure it was the soap. They were using Dial soap (like many manufactured soaps they contian animal fat, so per my soap selling / vegetarian friend). Anyhow my son uses it when we go camping, my wife still laughs at the larger bar of soap I carry to the shower, but I have to say the scent on it last longer, as well as I'm pretty much bug free :-()

So is this like Fight Club soap?  That would be cool!

Thanks for the replies.  I think I'll give the lemon eucalyptus oil a shot.  I have used natrapel with no luck and I have avon's SSS (bottles of it since way back when I used to sell it) and that works for a while and then I get bit again.  Anyone hear of using a dryer sheet in you pocket?  Someone told me that also works.

Thanks again and any more ideas are always welcome!!!  :)
