Hi
Your friend is correct, there is no title for pop up's in NJ.Bill of sale is all you need and yes there is a VIN on the pop up. List manufacture, year gross weight vin and price(to pay sales tax) and you should be good to go. Hope this helps

We bought our Coleman Niagara popup from a private owner and he handed me the title signed by him and I presented this to the DMV in VA, with a piece of paper signed by the previous owner and me saying what the cost of sale was. I was then charge a sales tax for VA and a VA "property tax" - which most sane states do not have, plus a permanent tag rate of $55 to register the camper on the road. We pay about $35 per year for a recreational vehicle, so the permanent cost of $55 made more sense - we have used the camper going on our 4th year. When we move to PA, we will not have all these extra charges.

The previous owner also allowed us to use his plates to get it from NJ to VA - then I Priority Mailed them back to him so that he could get a credit towards his new trailer plates.

Hope this helps,
Dave
