I know I should list this in Mr. Fixit but Here we go. I have the Thetford C2 built in toilet/shower in my new to us 1996 Jayco 1406. I never have used it until this past weekend. The dial turns and as I push down and turn it, the flapper does open and the waste does go down but it is not running the chemicals after use.  Yesterday I took the cassete out after viewing Thetfords website to see what the problem may be. I noticed everything looked ok and I checked the 3 amp fuse. It was good. One of the things I noticed was that there are 2 electric plugs. One is plugged in to where it goes ( it only goes in one place as the other plug will not fit) and the other is not. I cannot find where it goes and there is nothing to plug it into. Is this an additional plug for another accessory or is there supposed to be another plug this goes into for a fuse? What is the best way to trouble shoot the electric power to the toilet? Is there another fuse somewhere or a breaker switch? Any and all suggestions will be much appreciated

I don't know anything about your toilet, so this may be about as useful as spats on a hog.......

To test for voltage, use a digital voltage meter.  The red probe from the meter goes to connector at the fuse because that's where you'll find 12 volts.  The black meter probe goes to the camper's frame, or a screw that you find is screwed into the camper's frame.

Make sure you have the camper set up, so that all of it's electrical goodies are getting 12 volts.........I read that some of these campers have a safety switch that kills power to the camper if the roof is closed, or if the sink isn't swung up into position.

Once you confirm you do or don't have 12v, you can go from there.  If you don't own a voltage/ohm meter, Sears sells some nice ones.  Once you get the hang of using them, you'll use them all the time.

Maybe your potti is set up so that when you push a flush button, that's actually an electrical switch to so it sends power to a water pump that pumps the flushing water?  If so......and if you find 12v is getting through the fuse when you activate the flush function.......then maybe the water pump is locked up due to sitting for years unused.  You may be able to take it apart and clean the crusty water deposits out of it, and have it work again.  Look in that cassette stowage area for the pump and confirm it's there, and then see if it's getting voltage and grounded properly.

I agree, sounds like the pump is no longer working. The C2/C3 toilets are very similar, with the C3 being meant to hook up to an RV's plumbing system. The extra wires/connector appear to be part of that set up and not used on the C2.

I'm not sure, but I only recall one wire connector hooked up on my C2.

Good luck. BTW, Thetford still supplies parts and service even though they no longer make these models.

Okay I'm sure this post will go over real well, but here it goes. Why do you people insist on taking a crap in what amounts to your kitchen and or bedroom. Stop using those things and get something portable that you can set up outside in a seperate little tent, or just use the bath house in your campground. Man!!

It seems like those that own pop ups with all the bells and whistles are the ones that are always having to ask "What do you do when this doesn't work or when this stops working what do you do or why does it do this".

I'm sorry......I think I cracked there for a moment.

Spicyville - sorry, I can't offer any assistance.  I have a PETT outside my PUP.

Cajuncamper - all I have to say about your post is . . . we are birds of a feather, and I just try to keep my beak shut . . .  ;)  We have to find a way to park our campers next door some time.  Other than that, to each his/her own.

Ok Cajuncamper............take step back and take a deep breath(LOL) it will be ok. We only use it for the little ones that have to go potty. I myself prefer the facilities at the parks we visit.

GREAT reasponse LOL

Used 2B PopUPTimes

The 12vdc wire that feeds my cassette and a light at that end of the trailer was pinched between the chassis and the floor under the camper and shorted to supply voltage to ground. First the problems were intermittent and then became a solid problem. Once I fixed the wire both the light and the toilet pump worked again.

Check the fuse, follow the wire, check the connectors on the toilet's switch and pump, make sure your have 12vdc at the switch and then to the pump. The hardest part is accessing everything.

Are you saying that when you flush, you are not getting water to rinse the toilet?  On my C2, there is a reservoir that you need to add water to for the rinse, could that be the problem, you have no water to rinse?  The reservoir is right above the cassette and has a yellow cap on it...you add water there. If this is not your problem, please disregarde this post.

Well, after destroying my knee when I missed the steps one dark night for a middle of the night potty run, to me it is worth the convenience of having something inside. I only use it for liquid waste, not solids, unless boondocking.

And the built in shower/toilet combo is, IMO, a heck of a lot better that those porta-potties in a bucket under the dinette.

Cajun, you are assuming everyone cooks in their camper. Id rather pee in the pot than cook in it. If you are happy using facilities outside your camper, go for it... but I'm going to use my inside cassette as long as I have it. Late or middle of the night calls are best answered without getting dressed to go outside. Plus there is not always a bathhouse   to use.

spicyville1 a little bit further back from that hard to reach 3 amp fuse is a round silver fuse about an inch or so in diameter. It has 3 prongs and is a flasher fuse, it controls the pulse flush. See if that's the culprit. I removed and put it back and our flush started working again.

Thank you all for responding. I will certainly use all of your suggestions.

I fixed it!  :-()  The Thetford and shower that is.  I cannot believe all it was, unplugged. I took the whole thing apart and checked all the switches and the fuse. Low and behold in front of my little eyes was a plug that that was not hooked up. I hooked it up and tested before reinstalling everything and the flasher was pulsing and the pump was a pumping. I freaking cannot believe that was what the issue was. I replaced the shower hose with a new one and low and behold, it does not leak and sprays great. I am ready for another trip now. Going to Galveston State Park in 2 weeks for 4 days. I cannot wait!
