Curious to know how many of you bring your dogs with you camping vs leaving them at home.

Last year we brought both of our dogs with us.  Now we have three dogs so things will be even more interesting this year.  These are not little dogs; one is Homer a 4yr old pure bred English Black Lab, another is named Bear a 5yr old Boxer mix, and the newest edition is Babe a full bred 1yr old Rottweiler.  All adopted from customers of mine.

We went on our maiden voyage last year with our Coleman Fairview Pop-up.  At the last minute before we left home for our first multiple night adventure I said to DW, "why don't we bring the dogs".  Since we have two king sized beds I thought put Homer & Bear on one bed and us on another.

First two nights not so much sleep for any of us.  The 3rd-5th nights things went very smooth.

The bad news is we found out on the way up that Bear, the boxer, gets car sick.  Puked all over the back seat floor in my truck.  The good news is the Homer the black lab loved it as he got to eat twice that morning.  We did not even have to stop because in about two minutes Homer had it all cleaned up.  Ummmm ...yummy!  Called my vet before the drive home and he said to give Bear a tablet of Dramimine which worked great.

The trip was a lot of fun and later this month we are taking all them of them with us for the weekend.

:yikes: That is sooooooooo sick!  I'm laughing my a## off right now.

Love our dog........hate bringing her when we go camping.  Everywhere and everything is "No Dogs Allowed" so it just becomes a big nightmare.  Rather leave her with the inlaws and their dog.

We have always taken the dog camping. If it a "vacation" and we are traveling and doing lots of vacation type stuff we leave the dog home, but for weekends and local longer trips the dog goes. Our last dog did con his way into one vacation to WV and of course we always took him to the UP when we went..

We're breaking in a new boy this summer, I don't think he remembers camping last year when he was a pup because he's acting like it's all new again. He's turning into a good camper with LOTS of energy. Plus he has no tail so sitting around the nights campfire is much more relaxing.

We do pretty much as Marcy describes.  Our small dog (pom mix) loves to go camping - when she sees us getting ready to go she is waiting by the door.  We take her on week-end or short trips where sight-seeing is not involved.  If we have to run to the store for something, one of us goes inside while the other waits with the dog.

It all depends how far we have to travel. Daisy the beagle will come with us if the trip is less than 3 hours.  She is good and doesn't bark alot. On the other hand, Teddy the poodle is hyper, hyper, hyper. Did I mention he was hyper? He will bark at anything that moves so he never comes camping with us. Gotta respect the other campers!

Thank you, I appreciate your courtesy.

Kudos to you that take responsibility for your pets and are considerate of your neighbors.

Marcy, Do you still bring your dog his own chair? :)

We take all 3 of our dogs as well.  We do have a full pop-up so it can get quite crowded.  Gypsy our lab ans Sweet feet our Bug love camping so much that we couldnt even consider not taking them.  We also have a 14 year old Pug named Mistaah who goes but he would rather just stay in the pop-up with the A?C running!

They all have a blast and they sleep barely moving for days after.  They all are done by the time they get home.

We have a little Shitzu / Bijon mixed dog.

If we're camping nearby on a weekend we bring him.  If it's an extended trip, he goes to Grandma's house.

He's a bit of a baby, and freaks out of we leave him alone in the camper.  He needs to be near his Mama (DW) when he's in a strange new place.

Our little dog comes every time we go camping......Just wouldn't be be a family outing with out her........ :-()

Used 2B PopUPTimes

We had a little mutt that loved camping. We didn't take him on every camping trip but there were a few CGs he got to know fairly well.

We have been bringing along our dog on all of our camping trips since she joined our family one year ago.

She only barks on command and is crate trained, which is very good for the campground/RVPark environment.  She thinks that she is lap dog, which is OK, because by sheer genetic luck she has grown into a tiny-sized Golden Retriever.

We bring Jed whenever we can.......

Or should I say, "whenever Laura ('azusateach') camps with us..." :p

Laura thinks that Jed belongs to her. We just let her think that.......saves $ on dog food..... :p

I would love to bring our dog camping, but he doesn't seem to like it so much, so instead of making him and us miserable, we leave him with my wifes brother. He has two dogs and they love to play together.

We brought it last season, but Koda dosen't seem as interested to sit on a chair (plus he's to big)...he wants the recliner! He is not getting my recliner...no way!

After dragging Shadows chair for almost 16 yrs, it was kind of sad and weird retiring Shadows chair this spring.

Koda seems happy on the ground.
