This will be my 1st camping trip with pop up.  The AC unit has a factory installed 12 ft ( or so) cord with a strange plug on the end.  When I go to the campsites, will I find matching receptacles standard or will I need to bring some kind of adapter?  I know this is vague, but help if you can. Tom

Tom,

Someone else may have better info. I have never had to plug in a factory installed roof-top AC at a campground. I suggest you carefully search for a matching outlet, as AC are usually on a seperate circuit. If it is convenient you may want to take it back to the dealer who installed it. Be sure to look under all of the cabinets and storage compartments, including built-in seats. You may also call the installer and ask where he placed the outlet for the AC he installed. I hope this or someone else can help. Happy camping. joecirwin@gmail.com

I may have a dealer installed unit, that will require me to find an outlet in the unit for me to plug into in the pup?  I haven't seen one.
I was hoping it was wired to plug in at the site. But having never been to a site, I don't know what the hook-ups look  like.  Anyone else have the same type of cord? or set-up?

99% of roof top AC's have that "strange plug". It's a 20 amp design with one blade perpendicular to the other instead of parallel like a standard 15 amp plug.
If the trailer is under 5 years old there will be a 20 amp outlet with the matching configuration to plug the cord into.
It most likely will have a slot that has both the parallel and perpendicular slots so either a 15 amp or 20 amp plug can be used.
A common location for the outlet is on the face of dinette seat near an outside wall and many folks go years without noticing it.
If worse come to worse locate the 20 amp breaker in your converter and see if any wiring is connected to it and follow it to the outlet.

Just tracked down the install dealer and he says the same thing as Mike.
Thanks for the info and I will search accordingly.  Tom

If you tell us the year and make of your PUP, someone here could probably tell you where the outlet is.

On my 06 Fleetwood Niagara, my 20 amp plug is toward the front bunk, between the microwave and bunk, and there's a velcro 'wrap' for the cord above this area on the interior of the roof.

There should be a outlet somewhere inside of the camper to plug into.  It should be near where the cord is.  Mine is near the front of the box next to my breaker panel.

Mine is under the dinette seat where my inverter (and oddly enough) my water holding tank are.
