Well... we finally made it out for our first trip of the season.  We had to cancel our May trip due to a wedding that popped up unexpectedly. (I wonder what might be happening 8 or 9 months from now.)   We stayed locally for this one - Wildwood State Park on Long Island.  The weather cooperated and the kids loved the beach.  The only thing that put a mild damper on anything was that the weather was so nice our first day, no humidity, just warm and beautiful, that I didn't even think to apply bug spray.  BIG mistake!  All three of the kids had a tick on them.  My son actually had two.  The two younger kids had deer ticks, so now I'm on the lookout for the next few weeks for that bullseye rash.  Hopefully they'll be okay since the ticks were off within an hour of attachment.  I only know this because they had just been bathed.  So a friendly reminder to all - just because the mosquitos aren't out and about, the ticks don't discriminate.  They love all sorts of weather! : )  Whatever method you choose for you and your family (DEET, natural repellents, etc.) don't forget to protect yourself from these awful little buggers!  Hope everyone is enjoying the summer.
