Fridge Question

Been a while since I had a popup with a fridge and I am a bit rusty.

I was showing a friend of mine how to start the fridge in her popup. They have had the popup for a year and have never used the fridge on gas and they are heading out for a week of dry camping.

Anyway, I got the fridge going on gas.

My question is, do you close the flap that you look through to check the flame or leave it open during operation?

Gene our fridge has a small enclosed window to peek thru to see the flame, my guess would be to close it.
