E & I and hopefully our boy Jakey will be headed up to Glacier Lodge in a couple of weeks. We will actually be in the upper sage campground but since I was a kid I've always called the whole area Glacier Lodge. The Lodge has been gone now for many years. It was destroyed by fire and has not been rebuilt. The Lodge use to have a very well stocked store, a restraunt and a few rooms for rent along with a few cabins. The pond in front of the Lodge was well stocked and easy fishing for the very young ones in the group. We are really looking forward to getting up there this year. We had reservations for last year but when we got there we were not allowed up because of the fires burning in the area. We ended up in the Bishop area.
In all of the years that I have been going up thereI had never hiked farther then the hike in camp. So this year E and I plan on going a bit further. I would love to here from others who have enjoyed this little bit of heaven on earth.

Geocaching is a great, fun sport(?) suitable as a family activity.  If you are placing a cache, check out the page link above as to requirements of the geocaching.com group.  Most importantly, make sure you have permission of the landowner or agency who controls the land where you are placing the cache.  It may be the area you're going into does not permit the placing of geocaches, that may be why you don't see many.  There is much more information available on the geocaching page, check it out.  Have fun!
