Hello Everyone,

My family is so excited! After tent camping for 15 years we just completed our maiden voyage in our NTU 2008 Starcraft 2409. We spent a week at Lakeside Pines campground in Bridgton Maine and what a week!

The pop up worked great and this was a good year to invest in a camper because it was a washout of a week. It rained everyday. We saw the sun once on Tuesday for 15 minutes.

We got to test every system in the pop up, including the heat  :eyecrazy: Everything worked as it should except for an upgraded fan we had put in in the roof.  It wouldn't turn on after a couple of days. It has a rain sensor in it and it refused to work after a couple of days, so I need to do some checking there. My hopes is that it is just because the rain sensor has not dried out. The manual does say that if the rain sensor is not dry that it will not operate, so we'll see.

Normal highs are usually in the high 70's for that area and we spent most of the week in the low 60's a good 15 degrees below normal. But hey I am not complaining. A bad weather day of camping is sooo much better than a good day a work  :)

Congratulations on making your first trip. Glad to hear that you didn't have many problems. All we need is to see some pictures!  :)

Congrats!  That sounds like quite a trip.

It was great thanks. The rain stopped long enough so that we could get in all the water sports...My son got up on water skis for the first time, we all went tubing (my brothers made fun of me for the way I scream when I tube) and my 2 kids along with their 3 cousins went fishing a couple of times with grandpa in the boat. They caught 31 little perch over 3 trips out so it was very exciting for them.

During a normal August that part of Maine gets .62 inches of rain...during the first week of August it got 3 - 4 inches of rain. I have never seen Long Lake that high. My folks and I have water front sites and by the end of the week the water was up on the campsite. Never seen that before!

With such a success we are going to try and get out with my sister in law and her husband over labor day weekend up to the Catskills.

It was wet, but it was fun and relaxing. The camper was great for a place to escape to.

The roof vent we had trouble with is the Shurflo Comfort Air - Platinum. Anyone have experiences with this model?

Sounds like it was great!  Last year I had a nearly identical week!  We were long time tent campers and bought a brand new pop up to take to Raystown Lake for a week...and it poured almost the whole time and we got on the lake for just one day...and we loved it!
Welcome to the club!

The first trip we took in a PU was to Assateague Island National Seashore.  We had tent camped there many times in the past.  Winds coming in off of the ocean can be strong and it was Easter, so it was also cool and wet.  The first morning I was making pancakes on the indoor stove.  Looking out the window I could see a couple trying to get a fire going to cook breakfast.  The wind was blowing, the rain was pelting them and there I stood, snug and dry making pancakes.  Having a PU in rainy weather is SO much better than a tent in wet weather.  I am glad you had your PU to spend the week.  Hope your vent fan works.:)
