I know, I know.  It's September and most of you have been out multiple times this year.  For me - it's the second trip.  (yeah - that's pretty pathetic).  It's been one of those years spent dealing with family health issues.  Early on that eliminated the opportunity to camp and then I had knee surgery in late July which took care of another month of camping.  We are headed to a nearby state park and camping with a group of friends.  FUN!!  We leave tonight after work.  I can't wait!  I'm just hoping the "scattered showers" in the forecast scatter somewhere else.

That's Great! Jan. Enjoy the long weekend. Savor every minute because Sunday will arrive way too quickly.
Good luck with the weather.

Goin' to Montgomery Bell?

We have only been on 2 trips this year.  Having an infant was hard and in 2007 I don't think we went on any because he was really little.

Hope you have a blast this weekend!!!

I'm sure you're sitting there now, enjoying the morning campfire and cup o' coffee cause all the rain is north of you.
I'll keep the rain up here for you cause we aren't camping (plus we really need it) .

Hope you enjoy your wayyy overdue weekend.

We do the bulk of our camping from October thru the end of June. July, August and most of September are pretty steamy down here.

Have a wonderful time.

I may just have to driveway camp a few times to catch up with you. I do have a firepit and some firewood so it should count right??

It was a GREAT trip, although cut a little short.

1.  Yes, it was Montgomery Bell State Park (which I learned was originally a national park - I've camped there many times and never heard that).

2.  No morning campfire necessary, unfortunately.  Temps were around 90 for the high and the humidity was almost that high.  And, our a/c wasn't working, but thankfully someone knew how to fix that.  Whew!

3.  We have plans to make a few more trips this fall.  I love fall camping, too.

4.  It's really fun to camp with a very creative friend.  They came up with a treasure hunt which had at least 7 "teams" of us scrambling to figure out the clues and decipher the code.  It also took us to 5 areas of the park and stopping rangers everywhere asking questions.  They were getting a kick out of us and told one group that they were asking too many questions and he couldn't help them any more or it would be "cheating".  Half the fun was actually when it ended and we were all sharing stories about how we all attempted to figure out the clues.

5.  Weather, although hot and humid, held off until early Sunday morning when TN got some of the storms resulting from Ike.  It was very windy out there by 6:00 a.m.  Bleary-eyed pretty much describes us breaking camp.  A few headed out last night, and the rest of us all left early this morning.  Not how I wanted to end the trip, but apparently was the wise choice given some of the heavy wind damage in the area.

I am ready for the next trip!  Hope it's soon!
