Is there a gas panic in your town. In the news around here , some have raised prices 30.-50.gal. some up to $1.00. Some are reportedly limiting purchases to 10 gallons....some stations here in North Carolina are out of gas , be it temporary, till the next truck gets there, or when ever.

Old Goat

Prices here in Shelby,NC went from $3.62 to $4.15 overnight...

DRILL BABY DRILL, they don't have hurricanes in Alaska

Hurricane Ike is going over the oil rigs in the Gulf right now. The oil companies won't have any idea how extensive the damage is or when they will be able to resume drilling. The markets are just responding to the uncertainty of the situation.

haven't noticed it here "yet"

Woner if the Carolinas is one of those places were you can't drill offshore?

This has been posted on every pop up website that you can find. Are we trying to create a panic? What do you hope to gain by running around yelling panic?

Not running around yelling panic here.. just telling it like it is...

Coach,
Federal and state regulations prohibit North Carolina and other coastal states from drilling offshore.. Hurricane IKE will surely help change these idiotic regulations in the near future....

JAL&JKL

Have a Shell Oil Refinery here in town & we pay Higher prices than any where they transport gasoline to. Just the mention of the word "hurricane" and the price per gallon goes up! Legally, in AL they can increase it as much as approx. $1.00/gal PER DAY!!! The law was passed when gasoline prices were $1.20/gal.
Something has got to CHANGE!!!! $3.70/gal as of last night; who knows what it is TODAY.

The strange thing is that the majority of the offshore rigs in the Gulf are off the coast of Louisiana. Last week when Gustav hit Louisiana more rigs were affected than with Ike. Louisiana also has the largest strategic oil supply in the country and when we were hit by Gustav, none of this craziness happened with gas prices. Oh and by the way our refineries here slowed down production as well. I wonder why the markets didn't react then.
