Anyone offer feedback on this park? We're looking to go somewhere late September/early October and this one is a possibility.   Could it work for a Knoebels visit (Covered Bridge Festival Oct 3).

Bruce this is my home park.  It will take you about an hour to get to Knoebels from the park.  If you make this on a weekend that I am not camping I will join you.  October 3rd weekend is still open for me.  Great bathroom, electric at most sites, next year they will have some pet sites.  What do you want to know about the park?:)

COTOC is camping at Locust Lake September 26th weekend and at Granite Hill near Gettysburg October 10th weekend.  You are more than welcome to join us.:)

Tracy, I knew you knew this park well.  I was hoping you would read this.  If you recommend it, I know it is a good one.    If we go on the 3rd, I will definitely let you know.  We want to make the Covered Bridge festival, we've said so for years.  This year looks like it will happen.  Just a question if we are camping or not.

Thanks for the COTOC invites.  We know you're always made us welcome. We can't do Locust Lake on the 26th and the October 10th weekend is our Annual MAC Birthday Bash, so we'll be at Cowans Gap State Park.  I guess Paula is celebrating her birthday at Granite Hill with all of you.  Enjoy that trip.

Hi Bruce,

Yes Paula canceled her reservation in Del and is coming to Gettysburg.  One thing I forgot to tell you that may be important to you is that there is no cell phone coverage at RB Winter SP.  You have to go a couple of miles down the road to get coverage.  There is also a general store in Forest Hill (on your want into the park) that has wonderful sub/hoagies or what ever you call them.:)

No Cell Phone coverage???  It will be like we're ....  camping!

We just got back from Big Meadows in Shenandoah.  There's no cell phone coverage there either.  We're ok with that.  We're leaning towards going.  I'll let you know shortly.

I had some time today so I took a drive out by the park.  The lake has been drained.  No idea what is going on, but it gives you an unusual view.:)

Tracy - Here's what it says on the Park website -

"8/26/2008 9:14:00 AM A drawdown of Halfway Lake will begin on September 2, 2008. The drawdown is needed to start the construction of the new wall along the southern shore of the lake. Also the buoy lines will be removed and swimming will not be permitted. The project is anticipated to be completed by late November at which time the lake will be re-filled. "

I guess swimming is out of the question, eh?   :D

We reserved site 23 for 2 nights.  We'll be at the Covered Bridge Festival a good chunk of Saturday I presume.  Thanks for your help, hope to see you there.

banjorules

Tracy, will we see you on the weekend of the 3rd?

Bruce I am planning on it.  There is also an Oktoberfest in Mifflinburg (about 10 miles from the park) that weekend.:)

That would be great Tracy.  Choices, choices...
