How do you cover your PUT?

We store ours in the garage. That's why we own a PU. I would not own an RV if we had to park it in a storage facility. We live in an apt so we don't have the option of parking it outside.

We used a breathable cover specifically manufactured for covering popups.  Probably got it from Camping World.  It worked very well.  I would not use a tarp, at least one that was in contact with the camper, due to lack of breathability.  Moisture collecting in the camper could result in mildew  :yikes: , the scourge of pupups everywhere.

How about a tarp that is raised off of the PUT?  Would that allow for air okay?

Starting my second season using this year round.  Sold at your local Harbor Freight.  7.5' wide and 16.5' long.  Our Starcraft with 11' box fits just fine.  A 12' box PUP would probably fit too, but I don't think anything bigger would......not in this model anyway.

On the advice of the dealer, I use nothing to cover the PUP and have not any problems. I look at it this way, PUP's where made to be used out in all kinds of weather. During the winter I make it a habit to gently brush off any snow accumulation to keep weight off the roof.

My popup has always been stored in an enclosed building when not in use for camping.  First year I used a rental storage unit, ($60/month) and since we have been able to use our garage after selling a project car. No cover, but it is kept washed, and waxed with Meguire's Gold Class paste wax twice a year..

Ours goes to covered storage at our local RV repair shop/RV storage, its only $35 a mo. Which where we live is very cheap. Everywhere else wants $100 and up. The best part is that the place we store it is only half a block from my work so I just pick it up on the way home and drop it off when I go back to work, very convenient.

Although I really like the unit Austinado uses from Harbor Freight and have considered it. There is plenty of room on our property but I have hesitated due to the fact we live in the country and have lots of rats, mice and other critters about.

Ours is stored under a carport. Only gets a little afternoon sun, very little moisture summer or winter. 14 years old and still looks good.

Ours is under a breathable cover when stored out side, in the winter it is in the garage. That is why I made a big garage. Mark

Mine is kept in the garage.  I'm convinced things last longer when they're not exposed to extremes.

Stored in the garage.  That was one of the big draws of buying a PU over a hard size camper for us.  Can't park RVs outside because of the HOA restrictions.  I didn't want to pay storage fees and spend the time driving it back and forth to the lot either.

Ours in stored in the garage when not camping in the summer.  

We cover it with a pole barn in the winter.

Ours has been stored outside, uncovered, for nine years.  It has seen storage temps as high as 105
