Does anyone plan on going camping during the Thanksgiving holidays? A couple of years ago we went up to Daisy State Park in Arkansas during the Thanksgiving Holidays with another family and practically had the entire state park to ourselves. The campground had about 150 sites and only 30 or so of them occupied when we were there. It was beautiful, we had a wonderful time. We actually drove back home the day before Thanksgiving to be with our non-camping family members so we could share the holiday with them.

The first big trip we ever took with our pup when we first bought it back in 1997 was to Disney World during the Thanksgiving holidays. It was great, we stayed at Fort Wilderness, the boys were 9 and 4 and it was probably one of our best trips ever. If you want to go to Disney World, but dread the heat or the big crowds, Thanksgiving is said the be the best time to go because of smaller crowds and cooler temps.

I think we just may have to make a Thanksgiving trip again this year.

We have had a tradition for several years now to meet our full-timer friends for the week before and after Turkey Day.   We belong to NACO/Thousand Trails and they do also so we meet at the Turtle Beach preserve.  It's located just outside Manteca, CA.   The first time we did this many years ago, I brought our Turkey fryer to fry the turkey.  They loved it so much they went and purchased one.  So, now we alternate who frys the turkey and the other person does the rest of the stuff.  It has worked out wonderfully for us.   Since a lot of the members in NACO/TT are full timers, the preserve is usually full, but management lets us use the lodge so we can have lots of room.  Of course, we invite the 5-6 staff members in appreciation for letting us use the lodge.  We all have a great time, and just like the pot-lucks, there is always way too much food!

Yeah........We're camping in my wife's sister's driveway!  The whole famn damily is meeting at her house in Virginia for turkey day.  We're BYOB.  Bring Your Own Bedroom!  It'll be safer outside away from the crowd anyway!  :D

Yes I am.  I have gone camping on Thanksgiving for several years now.  We have turkey dinner with my extended family.  When dinner is over I leave for the campground of choice.  :)

We have been camping in Kentucky state parks for Thanksgiving because their shower facilities remain open in many locations all year long, and the resort state parks put on a great Thanksgiving dinner!

We went camping last year the day after Thanksgiving thinking we would be among the few there. To our surprise we got the last spot in the cg. Here in AZ the weather is still warm for Thanksgiving which may help explain the crowds. We did have to use the furnace last year as it does cool off at night but I think it only came on twice. We were thinking about going again this year.
