Woke up this AM to rain and snow.  All snow up in the higher elevations. Our kids got to school at 7:20, and were sent home by 9:15.  No more pretending that winter is not on our doorstep.

Maybe we can get just one more camping trip in . . .  ;)

Looking forward to next year.

We are supposed to reach 94 today. You can keep the snow. I grew up with the snow which is one reason I live in AZ now.

Why not?  You don't have to stop camping because it is cold out.  Join COTOC on one of our winter trips.:)

Hate to see the snow.  Summer seems so short.

We're hoping to go to Pittsburgh for 5 to 7 days over New Years, snow or no snow.  Camping season is not over for us.  Camper's winterized right now, but we can change that really fast.

snow here, too.  does not change the fact i still want to go camping.

I hate to rub it in but here in Sacramento (CA) the temperature is going to be in the 70's today with a bit of rain tonight that is supposed to clear up before the Tirck or Treaters come out.   Last week it was in the 80's.

Winterize?  What's that?

No smog here, our ground doesn't jiggle and we don't have traffic jams, we have traffic jellies.  Lasts for about 2 cycles of the light.

Ha.....that's a new one for me "Traffic Jellies." We occasionally have those around here too. Especially I675 during rush hour when some idiot on a cell phone disrupts the flow of traffic by constantly changing speed.

Actually, I lived in Atwater Ca. back in the mid '70s (US Air Force) and I have to admit that there are some really really great camping opportunities in California. I would love to get back there camp some those places. Yosemite, Eldorado National Forest, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, and way up north to Shasta -Trinity. Man, almost makes it worth putting up with a little shaking underfoot. Someday.......after retirement.......Someday!

Arizona campers are very fortunate to have a wide range of climates within a 250 mile radius on any day of the year. I suppose Californians can experience a similar range. We simply camp where the weather suits our clothes.

We camp at elevations between 80' and 10,000'. Which is equal to traveling many thousands of miles north and south in latitude. From the only tropical desert in the U.S. ( the Sonoran Desert where it never really freezes) to subalpine mountain slopes (where Bristlecone pines grow) in the White Mtns. One can literally be ice fishing in the morning, then in a few hours travel, do some shirt sleeve star gazing that same evening.

Off course we do not camp in the desert in the summer or the mountains in the winter. But we can camp any day of the year and find accomodating weather. Very fortunate indeed. Lynn
