If you have kids or grandkids that will be Trick or Treating, be aware!

Subject: Halloween candy recall
There is a new warning put out by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
Sherwood brand Pirate's Gold Milk Chocolate coins are being recalled
due to the fact that they contain Melamine, the ingredient in milk
product that has caused many infant deaths in China.

These candies are sold at Costco, as well as many bulk and dollar
stores. Please make sure to check your children's Halloween candy and
DO NOT LET THEM EAT THE PIRATE COINS (you know the ones wrapped in the
shiny gold foil) and please let other parents know about this!

Here's the link to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's recall notice: http://news.gc.ca/web/view/en/index.jsp?articleid=421359
Here's the link to verify the information on Snopes:http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/coins.asp

I love how people will link to snopes without actually reading it..."Sherwood Brands says those of its chocolate coins that contain melamine were vended only in Canada, that none of those confections reached the U.S."

So post in a Canadian forum, not one aimed at So Cal.

The fact is, her post was deceptive and misleading.  There are many companies that make those coins, and there is 0% chance of someone in SoCal encountering the unsafe ones.

Think, then post.

:p Okay there Austin Boston Noisy member, tonight you get to be right, feel better? :U

Shame on you Jennifer.... waisting our time with Canadian peoples problems!!!  :compumad:   :canada:

so THEY say..how do you know someone didn't visit canada and bring it back.???...try taking some happy pills, and who made you the So cal forum posting police anyway????

if you don't have anything nice to say ...please don't post....

NOISY MEMBER??  More like grumpy old man.  I have received the same warning in emails, and quite honestly I will pull any coins my sons get.  They get SOOO much candy, I will not take the risk.

AB stick to your own posts, leave us SoCals alone!!!

Dee4j

This is AB posting on the boards :swear:

This is AB if he ever shows up to a So Cal rally...

Uh, how about post in a Minnesota forum, not one aimed at a good natured camping club in a state far, far away from you live...if the shoe fits....

QuoteThink, then post.

I have a better one: be considerate when you post.

You're messing with the wrong group, AB. We are SCCampers, and we protect our own. You could have shared the same substantive content of your post in a far less aggressive and insulting way. Jen didn't do anything to deserve your vitriol. We actually appreciated her well-meaning post, and BTW, it was posted in our forum and was directed specifically at SCCampers, her camping club family, not the general or campfire forums, so I'm not really sure why you thought it was okay to come on in and lambaste her.

New SCCampers rule: Tap Tap no mean people. ;)

Actually you are correct, maybe we should read things BEFORE we post them. We should also read before we post rude comments on the board. I am quoting from the same Snopes link I posted in the original message...

"This product is sold nationally through Costco stores and may also have been sold in bulk packages or as individual pieces at various dollar and bulk storesacross Canda."

And although the distributor states that these particular products were distributed in Canada and not the US. Why take the chance and not inform people?

I love my camping family. :D

You know, in 4 1/2 years that I've been a member on these forums that was the first rude post I have ever seen.

and that's all she's gonna say about that...

Thank you Jennifer, my grandson lives in WA. which the candy could EASILY make it across the border....

I subscribe to //www.cpsc.gov and get e-amails for recalls on stuff I also have safety alerts from consumer reports. Kara had a set of the deadly aqua dots

You're mischievous, which is not necessarily mean. My comment was not at all referring, either directly or indirectly, to you Brian.
