I've just PM'd GLM'sGirl about transfering her reservation to me.

We've never been to this campground before.... I'm not really seeing any pictures of it through the google search I did.......... has the group been here before?  Any pictures of the spots or campground?

How far is the campground from the water (beach)?

The first page says there are no assigned spots... so how does that work if we have a reservation?  The people who arrive first get the best spots I take it?  Are there bad spots?

Thanks guys ;)

We've been to Pt Mugu about 20 times. We often go there on the "Spur of the moment" because it is close and rarely booked up in the winter months.

The links below will give you pics that should give you a good idea of what it's like.

All of the spots are the same. The problem is (as you will see in the pics) the CG is just one long line of camp sites, about 1/2 mile long. The sites are "1st come, 1st served" so what happens is that the early arrivers get pretty close to each other (at the South end) and the late arrivers end up farther down the beach. It's really not a big deal because even if you are way down the beach, you can drive to the group area and park. The sites are quite large and you can park 2 or 3 cars in each site, if you park with the front wheels in the sand and the rear wheels on the pavement (assuming a rear-wheel-drive vehicle).

Each spot has a picnic table and fire ring. There is a water spigot about every 3 campsites (on the other side of the road) that can be used to fill your water tank. No need to bring water. If your hose isn't long enough to reach, some of us have flat-reel hoses that will reach. Most of the spigots will accommodate threaded hose fittings but there are 3 that will need a "Water bandit". Some of us have those as well.

You may want to consider a "Porta pottie" if you have toilet issues (if your camper has no toilet). The "Chemical Pit toilets" are modern and well maintained, daily. They don't smell bad but some people just have issues with them........

Gracy yes you can have a tent too........This CG is really a lot of fun.....Thanks to Wayne for showing it to us.......Ya all come on out.....get on that waiting list...

Can someone tell me the cost for an extra vehicle please? My brother and his wife are thinking of joining us for one or two nights. They will sleep in their vehicle. We will have the pickup and the trailer. Is adding a 3rd vehicle feasible?

TIA

Gracy

Thanks for all the info and woohoo about the tents... we will get our friends to join us hopfully!!!  We do have a potty in the trailer so we're good there.

PS:  Maybe someone "handy" can show Shayne how to get out heater going......... it seems to be kickin his butt trying to figure it out  :eyecrazy:

Thanks again... I'm really excited!!!  :D

3 vehicles is fine. No problem fitting gauranteed......I think that they charge $10 per vehicle, if you ask.......my advise.......don't ask.....they seldom check. Pt Mugu has always had a very relaxed policy.  I usually go down on a Wed or Thurs and Carolyn would go back and forth to work from the campsite. I don't remember ever paying for the extra car.

You can sleep in your car, outa your car, on the picnic table or set up as many tents as you want. If you happen to pass out on the sand, on your way back from Dee's "Blue Bombers" or your "Lemon Drops", you can sleep there too  :p . I have seen 6-8 tents on one campsite (Boy Scouts etc).
