We actually had snow here in south Louisiana yesterday on Thursday, December 11th .....what a treat for us Southerners. On Tuesday our temps were in the upper 70's so who could have been thinking about snow.

I know I know, some of you are thinking what's the big deal?

It's South Louisiana, that's what the big deal is.

Anyway, I posted a few photos of my yard and house covered in snow. My Beagle Max was not too thrilled as you'll see in the photos.

My website is //www.cajuncamper.weebly.com   Just go to my trips and photos page.

Cajun,

Doesn't surprise me at all. I lived in Lake Charles for 19 months about 12 years ago. Moved back to SoCal over Thanksgiving 1996. Less than a month later I heard from some friends back there that a freeze had settled in that was so bad tree limbs on some of those 200 year old oaks were exploding!! Power out across the city for days. Man am I glad I missed that.
Between the hurricanes, the torrential downpours, the sweltering humidity and the bugs the size of small airplanes, I'm okay with the infrequent earthquake out here.
Hope you're staying warm during this rare, but beautiful, White Cajun Christmas season.

Hi Cajun,

I live in the higher mountains is north central West Virginia were we average over 150" a winter.  As for me the more snow the better!......just love 4 wheeling around in it.  We had 3" overnight and are forecast for another 4" this afternoon and evening.

Hope you enjoyed it while it was there.

I was stationed at Fort Polk during the late seventies and remember a snow there, probably in early 1978.  Seems to me it was about 4" then too.  It WAS a big deal as I recall the schools shutting down and even the Post delaying opening until midmorning.  It was all melted by the afternoon, but fun while it lasted...

Yes Kenner got snow. There was 4" of snow in the French Quarter. I would love to have seen that.

We got over 4 inches here in Covington, La. It was wonderful. The kids made 3 different snowmen.
