This year the magazine will be a little different. Tough times have clobbered the pop up makers and they've all cancelled their advertising. So for the first time in our 10

Dave sorry that PUTs is also being hit by the bad economy.  Please keep us updated on what is going on and if there is anything "WE" can do to help.

that stinks.....what about making PUT an online only magazine?? the subscription cost can help with the PUT board? Consumer reports requires and additional fee for their website even If you are a subscriber and Family fun magazine now offers their mag. online free to current paid magazine subscribers.
I actually like this, since I can save the info I want easily without tearing out the pages and filing them..

The magazine & forums are OK for now. The only reason for the thread is update readers on the look, size and direction magazine. We're online at

I agree with Dee, I would much rather have a PDF version of the magazine, rather than having it mailed.   Paper costs could be saved.

I do like the paper copy.  I like being able to take it with me to read.  I guess I am just old fashioned.:)

hey that works pretty good...

when did that issue come out...I didn't get that one...

had no clue the online version existed..I guess I was focussed on camping :)

coach

I've just about given up on subscribing to the on line version.

I can't for some reason!

bonscott

Sorry to hear about the troubles.  PUT is the only magazine I still subscribe to.  I take it with me camping (imagine that) to read.

Hey, just wanted to weigh in on the paper vs. cyber PUT issues...I really like the actual, paper magazine. I think it would be terribly missed!

WolfPack

I like the paper magazine i can take it too work and read it when i am at lunch.

We're not killing the paper version. We're just making the the magazine available to those who'd rather read it online. Those of you subscribe to the paper copy will also have access to the online version before the paper version even goes on press.

Dave, as you know, I'm looking to buy an Aliner (waiting for financing approval!!) but PUT is still home.

Anyway, I went to the PUT store to see if there's anything I could buy from here first and kept clicking back because there's hardly anything there and I thought I was doing something wrong.

I realize that it may not be convenient to store a bunch of stuff, but places like Amazon sell a gazillion things that are shipped from the dealer.

For example, I left the Marinco 30 amp detachable power cord on my Jayco  Qwest 8U (great item!!) and thought I'd check your price, if you had one.  For a difference of a few bucks, I would prefer to buy from PUT.

Also, (and I don't know if this has been addressed), but Cafeteria Press (or something like that) would have items (caps, mugs, T's, sweats etc) that people could buy with the logo.  PUX used to do that.

If there were more items to buy, we could support you that way.

And I cherish my paper magazines.

I've learned over the years that it doesn't pay to run a small online store. We used to stock a lot of stuff and the salary I paid for a full time person to fulfill orders ate the profits. Then if an item doesn't sell you're stuck with it and end up giving it away at rallies. Plus, I had to spend my days ordering, returning, paying vendors, sales taxes and I was working for free. I talk to Dean at PUX occaisionally and he shares to same frustration.  You really to go big to make it work. I really just want to sell magazines that report on the available goodies and where to get them.

Webmaster Steve and I talked about this yesterday and agreed that the store will be for subscriptions and e-books only by this time next month.

you could use cafepress to buy shirts and stickers with the PUT logo and stuff. You don't have to keep anything and PUT gets a percent of the sell. We use it over at the pop-up portal here is a link. You just upload a design and click it on the product you want and done!!! No over head for you and make extra money on the side. I love to have a sticker and shirt of where i spend my time and it is advertising for you at campgrounds and other places which could add a few new members that will in turn spend money with your sponsors. Just and idea.
