Our family has 3-4 day one planned in Asheville,NC (KOA East) in March for our sons spring break. I too would love to see the Southeast a little more active, especially given the camping season is here bit longer.

We are going to Peace Valley campgroung in Murphy NC June 13th thru the 20th. Never stayed here before, but it has gotten nothing but good reviews. We are going in our pup and friends are going in their TT. By the way we do most of our camping here in the state of Georgia.

COULD YOU RECOMMEND SOME STATE PARKS,THAT HAVE HIKING,OR SOME COASTAL PARKS.We live in Asheville,NC,you'll like the Murphy area, lots to do and see...............Enjoy

LimeJeeeep

if you can get a spot at FT Clinch you will enjoy..lots of hiking

For hiking my first choice would be Cloudland Canyon state park in the NW corner of Georgia. They have miles of trails as well as waterfalls at the bottom of the canyon. As far as coastal Georgia my favorite is Skidaway Island state park, just remember it lies below the gnat line! Hope this helps. Chris

PS: if you have not already found this site it will be a big help, both of the above listed parks can be found there.(http://www.gastateparks.org/)

We are new to popup camping.  We took our three boys for their first camp trip at Koreshan St Pk near Ft Myers Fla. 2 weeks ago.  We used a 8 man summer eddie bauer tent..(mesh roof with rain top).  We had fun but the weather dipped down near 30"s and it got pretty cold..even with propane heater buddy.  My pickup truck looked like  Sanford and son with ..5..bikes and gear..and cooler strapped to tailgate.  Anyway it turned out to be a lot of work with a 10, 7, and 5 year old but it was so nice to get them out we started immediatly looking and..well..found this for 4400.  A 2000 Bayside ..very good condition..4bike racks on top, canvas restiched with 3 threads(didn't need it), roof patched and repainted with a non skid type paint..brand new unused micro/convection oven..lights and gadgets etc..Ac refridge.  Pick it up on Sunday and we have two trips confirmed..Lake Kissimmee Fla st pk and Sebastion inlet state park.  Will let you know how it turns out.  Rod

We are going to Koreshan in 3 weeks for the first time, hope the temps are cool when we get there.  We just back from Lake Kissimmee last week.  We had great weather there and saw a lot of wild life.  Hope you have a great time.

good luck, we were in 42 and it was allright..river and sandy trail within 70 feet behind site. sites 16,18,20,22 and 24 had more of a pinetree canopy and closer to the boat dock and playground.  i think these are nicer for my tastes..A lot of private palmetto sites in the middle(dense..fire starter material palmettos)  We heard a lot of traffic off tamiami trail so I think any sites further west would be quieter.  If you go canoeing paddle east because you run into a lot of homes west unless you want to take a couple mile trip towards the bay.  Older but clean ammenities...and I'm a newbie so?  Anything you need is within 1 mile outside..food, whatever.  My kids loved it and made fires and carved poking sticks (at each other) and bikes are a good idea to get to the historical site and scoot around.  Rod

The family and I are going to Disney and staying at Ft. Wilderness. We are going to have to use the In-laws pop up, since mine has no canvass at the moment. Waiting to get it back.

Waiting on delivery of my first pop-up...plan to hit Fort DeSoto Park and Disney's Fort Wilderness next month to break it in!
