Anyone out there know what I need and how to go about installing a 12 v.battery system on my pup ,its a 1995 viking?

Well, first thing to determine is if it was sold with an electrical system.  Is there a converter in one of the cabinets?  Newer models have the converter located in one of the dinette benches.  The converter is part of the electrical distribution panel, and it will have high voltage circuit breaker(s) and low voltage fuses if there is a battery circuit.  Lets start with that info and go from there.  Pictures of the panel would be helpful.

Umm Jim...it is a converter.  A converter changes 120 AC electric to 12 V DC electric.  An inverter changes 12 volt DC power to 120 AC power.  You do not have to have a converter to have a 12 volt power system.  If the camper has 12 volt lights it has a 12 volt power system.:)

Geez Louise . . . It's late, I'm tired, and mispoke.  I already edited my post.:p

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxa culpa.

Jim sorry, I didn't mean to drive you off the board.

The back of the converter should have a red, white and blue wires.

Red is 12v pos in
White is ground or negative
Blue is 12v pos out

Yes it does have a converter located under a dinette seat and I managed to find the books that came with the pup.I really didn't investigate as to what size the converter is, but the book says that if I have a certain model that it is battery ready and with a flip of a switch you can power up on 12 v. from the battery... Thanks for your help !

So what your saying is that I should be able to run 10 g wire from the converter on the 12 v. side to a battery in a battery box on the frame and have battery back up ?

I'm gunna take a SWAG that you have a MagnaTek 6400 series "Electrical Center".

Owner's Operation and Warranty Guide

Note the chapter 4 '12 volts dc wiring to R.V.'
and the wiring diagram.

Secure the battery in a 'box' on the trailer tongue, and wire the pos to the red input and the neg to the white. Alternately you can tie into existing wires that go to the trailer/vehicle plug if they are wired that way

Close, I have the 6600 series, but not sure which model, the pamphlet I have  shows models : 6606,6612,6620,6626 gives some specs. but no wiring diagram. So thanks for the info yours has a diagram....Next chance I get on a nice day I will open up the pup and see which one I have..

if your documentation is similar to this magatek 6600 (series) , red is still 12v battery pos and white is battery neg , while blue is 12v converter output.
