We are looking at both of these campers and are within a $100 difference on price.  Tell me what you think - pros and cons of both.

Thank you.

Welcome to PUT Happygirl!

With that little difference in price, it comes down to the subjective question of which do YOU like better?  Before we bought our PUP, we borrowed a friends Dutchmen, and used that for a trip to see how we liked it.  It had the U-shaped dinette like the 1207, and we did not like it because you have to climb over the seating area to get in the bunk.  Our Viking has a long couch like the 1006 and we prefer that interior layout, as there is nothing blocking access to either bunk end.  The Jayco 1207 has what appears to be two table layouts, so it is different in that respect from many others.  Interior layout and features are a purely subjective thing, and just because some does or does not like a particular floorplan or feature, does not mean you will or won't like it.

Whatever you pick, be sure to post pictures and come back to visit us from time to time.

WELCOME TO PUT!!!!

compare these two models side by side using the link below:
http://www.jayco.com/php/products/compare.models.php?class_id1=1&prod_id1=170&mod_id1=866&class_id2=1&prod_id2=170&mod_id2=869

out of these two I'd personally prefer 1006, my personal choice was 2009 1206 in JSeries, which I'm picking up in Indiana this May

Good luck & welcome

Consider who will be "living" in it.  How many?  How old?  What will be the extent of living in the trailer?  Will you eat inside?  Sit inside?  The quality is clearly a wash, so it boils down to which floor plan will better suit your needs.

My Jayco has a u shaped as well, I dident like it much and I made a round table it was alot easier to get around being round and smaller.  we just bought a new receiver and screwed it on it made life much easier and we use the old dinette table as an extra for out doors and just bring it in when we need the extra bed.  Just remember no matter what you end up getting you can always change things around to make it your own.  The new table cost less then ten bucks, hope this helps.

We've debated that U-shaped table in front of the bed and have a "plan" to remove that table and leave it open for lounge sitting.

This decision has been much harder than I expected - I've about worn my husband out  :eyecrazy:

Thanks for the input.

In January, we bought a '97 1207. I love the layout of the 1207. We have a table in the dinette and leave the wrap around couch open for lounging. That gives easy access to the front bunk. We will be eating outside. So the table is mainly for cards or games. There is tons of storage throughout And it seems open and more roomy... I think the 1207 serves our purposed to a T. We were debating a new one, but I found a deal I could pass up....

Thanks - that is our thoughts as well and like the bigger beds in the 1207 over the 1006.  Did you just perm remove the table in the U shaped - how did you cover the floor where it attached?

Thanks,

The beds might be the sell.

I've heard many others say they didn't like the U-dinette. Only a few I've heard that liked it.

That said, I don't find the sofa in our hybrid to be that comfortable to sit on. The U-dinette, I suspect, would be more comfortable.

Hello and welcome to PUT. We have a 2004 Jayco Qwest 12A which is the same floor plan as the 1207. We bought it new and haven't had any regrets. The u-shaped dinette is mainly used for lounging and conversation. Since we eat outside most of the time we hardly ever use the table. It stays at the "regular" dinette location. The biggest difference is the front trunk storage. The 1207 doesn't have much "outside" storage whereas the 1006 has the front trunk. The 1207 has a lot of counter space and interior storage. I tow with a pick-em-up so the outside storage doesn't affect me too much. The 1207 also tows very easily. The 1006 will also because it is the same length and about the same weight. The difference is the front trunk. They added that and took 2 feet from the box length. 1006 has a 10 ft box with a 12 ft frame.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Either way you go, Jayco is a very good product and I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

Thanks again - we have decided on the 1207 over the 1006 as well as over the Palomino Yearling 4102 that we originally looked at.  I'm still a bit nervous, but we should finalize the deal today.  Thanks for all the information and such a great board.

Great!  I hope you love your 1207 as much as we love ours!

We love the spacious interior, but never really used the table in the U-shaped dinette very often. Last season I removed the floor bracket and caulked in the holes.

lilmexx

I bought our 1207 used and the bracket was already gone. Really I think it was never there. There seems to be no trace left from the removal. Also, we only have one table, so I think ours only came with the dinette. But that is my next mod to do.. a second table for the outside mount.

There is plenty of storage on the inside as mentioned. You should have enough room for all your needs in there. More outside storage would be nice, but like the other poster my TV is a pickup so I have a whole truck bed for whatever.

I am sure you will be pleased...
