Hi Everyone,

We've been invited to a Wedding in Mt. Pleasant this summer, and would prefer to take the PUP to help make the trip fun and affordable.  We're not familiar with that area of Michigan, and there are not any state parks there.

Have any of you ever stayed in the area at a campground you would recommend?

Thanks!

I believe Sleepy Hollow SP is the closest. I've never stayed there because my FIL lived about 5/6 miles outside of town and we camped on his property.

There may be a Forest CG within a hour as well.

You could always camp in the Casino parking lot ;)

We camp at the Michigan State parks around 5 times per year and enjoy them immensely.  We have stayed at Sleepy Hollow SP, but it appears about 60 miles from Mt. Pleasant.  For that distance, you could try to get into S. Higgins Lk. SP, which is an awesome watersports lake.

At about 30 miles, Wilson SP would be much closer, I have not been there, but I see there is a campground.

There is very nice privately owned campground about 30 minutes Southeast of Mt. Pleasant.  Here's their website: http://www.michcampgrounds.com/riverridge/

Book early as it's a very popular campground.
