When I was in Lowe's the other day, I saw something that I thought might make a cool floor in our trailer. It was called "Cryntel". It comes in 4 1/2" x 36" self adhesive vinyl planks. It was $33 for a box of 20 planks. I bought 2- boxes and that was more than enough for the job.

I tore out the old carpet and lino and removed the 150 staples that held the carpet down........I'll tell ya..If I were the guy that works at the factory, stapling those carpets in, I'd take a different route home every day.............. :swear:

Anyway, 8 hours after I opened the trailer, this is what I have:

It was so easy to do that I didn't even have to put the mouldings back in, everything butts up perfectly....no gaps anywhere...

Wayne that looks fantastic!  And not only does it look nice, but it clean, and will be super easy to keep that way.

Excellent work!

Beautiful job!  You will enjoy sock scooting around your PUP!  Really looks great.  Hope it holds up well after having been on a few trips.  (My concern was the boards staying in place with no puckers after being vibrated while towing)

Enjoy!

very nice!!! :D  I thought you were gonna use Dee's blow torch to get off the old flooring!! :p

The floor looks fantastic. I like how the floor coloring matches the cabinets. Will be interesting to see how the flooring stands up to the elements. We are going to have to have a contest to see who can slide across the floor the farest  :)

Looks great.

I was at HD looking at same two days ago.  They also have a new product they say is fiberglass and glueless.  it is fairly thick and I believe you just cut it to shape (I'd use a template) and lay it in.  Very tempting.  Special order only.

Has anyone tried true (old world) linoleum?  I am having trouble locating the sheet product online except in squares.  I'd prefer to avoid vinyl.

Thanks

Tom

Mike,

You can lay this stuff right on top of your old Lino. In fact, I'd recommend it. Just scrub the lino real good, pop off the 1/4 round moldings, caulk around the edges and put the floor down. It's easy to get it to fit exactly and you may not even have to put the 1/4 round back in (we didn't). There's 22.5 sq ft in a box.

I think that if you had a spill on the flooring, some moisture could get underneath (if you put it on the bare wood). That's not a big deal on our trailer but it would be on a trailer with wood flooring. Our trailer has aluminum floors.

You may be kidding but I may start using this stuff in our apartments and I may put it in our Fallbrook home. It is far more durable than laminate or real hardwood. It's practically indestructible. I can't even imagine how one could possibly damage it.

I'll bring a piece to the JoshuaTree camp-out.
