We just bought our popup....and are wondering what this is for?  The hitch ball on the side of the tongue.  Anyone know?

WolfPack

Hi its for the sway bar there is all so a small ball that goes on your hitch one end hooks to he trailer and the other end hooks to the tv and it held in place by two clips. helps to control the trailer sway.

WolfPack, Coach,
You're fantastic!  :)  Thanks.  I had not seen that kind of sway bar.
Cool,

Load your camper properly and that will minimize the need for anti-sway devices.  You should make sure that you have 10 to 15 percent of the total weight of the camper as tongue weight.  Even better would be a minimum of 12 percent.  This will prevent sway from even starting, which is much preferable to try to stop it once it gets going.

That ball is for the friction sway bar.  Your hitch ball mount should have one also.

Are there any descriptions of how to weight balance for the complete novice?
